Becoming The Everyday Ethicist® + and IIA Colorado Springs Chapter Elections
11:30am - 1:00pm MDT  March 26, 2024
Virtual event, 1 CPE
None of us are as ETHICAL as we think we are. All evidence points to the fact our society is not getting any better ethically. The number and variety of recent scandals proves our culture has changed in the last half century to one with a greater emphasis on self: "The Big Me.” Join us for a Colorado Springs chapter meeting and elections, with ethics training presented by Amanda "Jo" Erven, Internal Audit Strategist and Ethics/Culture Consultant.

11:30am - 12:00pm: Colorado Springs Chapter Board and Officer Elections
Prior to the presentation, the IIA Colorado Springs Chapter will present the nominees for the 2024 - 2025 Board of Governors and Officer Team. All IIA Members are invited to cast their votes!

12:00pm - 12:50pm Say Something, Even If: Becoming The Everyday Ethicist®
In this session, we will explore the role of "The Ethical Rationalizer” and why we tend to consciously or unconsciously rationalize away our unethical behavior. Then we will shift our focus to "The Everyday Ethicist®," and learn how to adopt values and behaviors that will improve our society’s ethical culture, one person at a time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify The Big Me character choice in real-life fraud and ethics cases
  • Recognize blind spots that exist and why they lead to being The Ethical Rationalizer
  • Select personal values and create an ethical mantra to become The Everyday Ethicist
