ICPA 17th AGM and Conference

The International Association for Correctional and Forensic Psychology (IACFP) is the oldest worldwide organization in the criminal justice field that offers services to mental health and behavioral-change professionals. The IACFP is sponsoring a free, half-day mini-conference for ICPA participants.  The mini-conference will be held from 9:00am to 12:45 on Sunday, Oct. 25th, preceding the regular ICPA program.

IACFP publishes Criminal Justice and Behavior, an internationally leading journal of criminal justice research.  Dr. Emily Salisbury, editor of the journal, Dr. Jim Degroot, President of IACFP, and Michael Clark, MSW – IACFP President-elect, will make presentations at this mini-conference on Strength-based practice, Motivational Interviewing, and Gender Responsive strategies for direct practice work with offenders.  Dr. John Gannon, IACFP Executive Director, will also Chair a discussion panel with Australian based correctional professionals, Dr. Jeffrey Pfeifer, Swinburne University; Ms. Melissa Braden, SOATS Manager; and Ms. Shaymaa Elkadi, Behavior programs general manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for program administrators, psychologists, and other treatment professionals to meet directly with correctional leaders from the United States. Examine effective strategies for dealing with challenging offenders and find out more about how you can be involved with IACFP in advancing important principles of leadership and effectiveness in Australia and around the globe.
