ICPA in conjunction with the National Administration of Penitentiaries will be running its Companion Programme in parallel with the main event.

MONDAY 24 OCTOBER: MEET & GREET

(Orientation will at 11:00 AM in the Merope room of the Raddisson Blu)



TUESDAY 25 OCTOBER: WINE TOUR – VALEA PRAHOVEI 

(Includes lunch at Conacul Domnitei Ralu/Urlati & wine tasting)



Visit Prahova Valley - the place where the Prahova River makes its way between the Bucegi and the Baiu Mountains in the Carpathian Mountains. A piece of land full of history!

The first stop of the itinerary is the Snagov Monastery. Then you'll be able to visit Bellu House and at the end of the journey you will be able to taste wines from the wine region of Urlati/Dealu Mare. Romania is one of the world's largest wine producers.


WEDNESDAY 26 OCTOBER: DISCOVER BUCHAREST (includes lunch)


The capital of Romania, Bucharest is exciting with its history, culture and arts. It's architecture is a mixture of historical (neo-classical), interbellum (Bauhaus and art deco), communist-era and modern style. The city id also known as 'Little Paris'.

You will be able to visit the Parliament Palace, Village Museum, House of Ceausescu also known as Primaverii Palace, the former residence of Nicolae Ceausescu.  Bring your camera and capture the moments durning the panoramic tour. You will see the Arcul de Triumf inspired by Paris' Arc de Triomphe, the Art Museum, the Romanian Atheneum, Victoriei Avenue, Revolution Square and the CEC Palace.


THURSDAY 27 OCTOBER: PRAHOVA VALLEY - THE LAND OF CASTLES (includes lunch in Bran or Brasov at a traditional Romanian restaurant)



Prahova Valley has many faces. Explore the romantic, the beautiful and the mystical.

Your first stop will be at Sinaia, know as the 'Pearl of the Carpathians' for it's beauty. Here you will visit the Monastery of Sinaia, built by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino after a he travelled to Mount Sinai. You will continue with a visit to the wonderful Peles Castle, built by the first representative of the Romanian monarchy Carol I, member of the family of Hohenzollern of Zigmaringen of Germany.

Then you leave for the village of Bran, where you will explore Bran Castles also known as Dracula's Castle, built between 1377-1382 by the Teutonic Knights but famously known as the home of Vlad Tepes, the bloodthirsty Dracula!

We then head towards Brasov, where you will explore the city and visit the Church St Nicholas, the Schei Gate, the Synagogue, St Ecaterina Gate, Thread Street, Council Square, the Tower of the Council and if open to the public, the Black Church.
