Jan Boermans is Regional HSE Director Europe and Russia for global terminal operator DP World, a position he has held for nearly 10 years. Jan has close to 20 years' experience in health and safety management, having previously spent 9 years as Regional H&S Manager for Amcor PET Packaging. A long-time member of ISP, Jan assumed the position of ISP Chair in June 2014.

Richard Brough started his career in 1969 with the Merchant Navy, culminating in command level. After 20 years at sea, he came ashore and worked in various port and stevedoring management positions until 2004, when he established his own port and logistics consultancy. From 2008-2011 he also launched, ran and sold UK Port Services Ltd. Richard provides ICHCA International’s Technical Advisor service and is deeply involved in the association’s work with various international agencies and regulatory bodies.

Andrew Chamberlain is a former Royal Navy officer and specialises in "wet" shipping cases, including salvage (acting for salvors, as well owners and their underwriters), collisions, fire and explosion, total loss and wreck removal. He also advises on both civil and criminal pollution liabilities, marine insurance coverage disputes and the full range of other shipping-related commercial and contractual disputes. Andrew served at sea with the Royal Navy and also had a stint with the Hong Kong Squadron. He left the Royal Navy in 1990 and joined HFW in 1994, having trained at Richards Butler (now Reed Smith). He was promoted to partner in 2003 and has been heavily involved in many of the largest casualties of recent years, including "PELICAN 1" (2003), "BP THUNDERHORSE" (2005), "MSC NAPOLI" (2007), "MSC CHITRA" (2010), "Costa Concordia" (2012), "FLASH" (2012), "KULLUK" (2012), "SMART" (2013), "NORMAN ATLANTIC" (2014) and "EASTERN AMBER" (2015). Andrew lectures regularly on salvage, wreck removal and casualty response and is an acknowledged expert in the field.

Conor Feighan is Policy Advisor for FEPORT. FEPORT represents the interests of terminal operators and stevedoring companies located out of the sea ports of the European Union. Prior to FEPORT, Conor previously worked within the European Parliament and European Economic and Social Committee. Conor holds a Master’s Degree in European Politics and Law from University College Dublin.

Captain Harry Gale began his seagoing career as a cadet with Trident Tankers Ltd (part of the P&O group) in 1967. He obtained his Master’s Foreign Going certificate in 1977. After working on board bulk, general cargo and container vessels with various companies, he worked ashore with the Hydrographic Office and the Met Office, before joining the Nautical Institute as Technical Manager in 2007. He has a key role in progressing the influential work of the Institute, involving research on professional and technical issues within the industry. He represents the Institute on committees and at conferences. He obtained a Diploma in Pollution Control and was awarded a BSc (Hons) degree by the Open University in 2004 and is a Fellow of the Nautical Institute.

Laurence Jones is a qualified engineer with over 40 years extensive management, engineering, maintenance, operations, industrial relations and logistics experience spanning manufacturing, mining and the global ports and terminals industry. In his current role as Risk Assessment Director for the TT Club, he provides advice and support in underwriting decisions and claims assessment and works proactively with clients and industry worldwide to identify areas where risks may be reduced. In addition to his role as Deputy Chairman for ICHCA International, he is a Director of ICHCA Australia and sits on ICHCA’s ISP Expert Panel. He is a member of the IAPH Safety, Security & Environment Committee and the PEMA Safety and Special Events & Education Committees.

M.Cagri Kucukyildiz began his career in 2003 as a cadet with Zodiac Maritime Ltd. and served on board various type of ships as a deck officer. After 3 years at sea, he came ashore and worked in port operations, berth maintenance and planning until 2009. Later on he joined the Ministry of Transport of Turkey and worked as a maritime expert till 2016, involved in development of maritime trade projects. After experiencing sea, shore and administration aspects of the maritime sector, recently he has joined the International Maritime Organization and is dealing with maritime facilitation subjects.

Richard is a safety and skills professional with a Masters in Training and Development who has been involved in the ports industry for 17 years. Prior to ports, Richard worked in the nuclear industry on safety and skills provision. Richard was the Learning and Development manager for Associated British Ports for 10 years and has been the director of Port Skills and Safety for 7 years. Port Skills and Safety is a subscriber organisation for UK ports with a remit to share best practice, develop safety guidance and standards and produce qualification frameworks for the industry. PSS members handle 95% of total UK port traffic. PSS works with a network of stakeholders including the UK regulators the HSE and MCA, government, trade unions and of course ICHCA.

Peregrine Storrs-Fox has been with the TT Club since 1984, firstly handling claims and providing advice to all types of transport and logistics operators, including ports and terminals, until the late 1990s when he began directing claims operations worldwide for the Club. Since 2002, he has led the TT Club's internal risk management framework as well as directing its loss prevention services to Members. In this latter role he has particularly developed links with like-minded trade organisations and NGOs with a view to promote good practice in health and safety matters as well as general operations.

Markus Theuerholz works as Sales Manager for German Lashing Robert Böck GmbH, a leading company specialised in the design, manufacturing and delivery of Container Securing Systems and products. He has more than 24 years of experience and is now a specialist in the field of Twistlocks, Stackers and Lashings. He joined the International Safety Panel (ISP) of ICHCA in 2002. Markus is involved in the development process of new class rules for container securing and assists surveyors in the evaluation of container loss and damage incidents.

David Tozer is the container ship segment manager at Lloyd’s Register, where he has worked for 30 years. He has a Master’s Degree in naval architecture. His achievements include supporting the development of the innovative Ultra Large Container Ship (ULCS) concept, contributing to the introduction of a new generation of container ships with greatly improved fuel efficiency, profitability and environmental performance. Through his three decades with Lloyd’s Register he has been involved principally with container shipping, during a time of great change and development for the sector. His areas of activity have covered research and development, numerical analysis, design appraisal, concept development and technical marketing. He is a member of ICHCA’s International Safety Panel (ISP). He has recently been focusing on the implementation challenges of MSC Circular 1352 which aims to improve the safety of container securing operations. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.  

Dr Lemonia Tsaroucha has been a lawyer for the Maritime Safety Unit of the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport since December 2011. She is responsible for civil liability, insurance and compensation matters, and has been working on the EU initiative on places of refuge since its inception in 2012. She holds a doctorate (PhD) in International Law from University College London, and has studied law in Greece, France and the UK.
