Short history of the IAP Annual Conferences and General Meetings
The IAP Constitution provides for a conference to be held annually to discuss topics which accord with the Objects of the Association. The Annual Conferences have traditionally been held in early September but consideration can be given to alternative dates by agreement with the Executive Committee as part of the bidding process. IAP Annual Conferences are generally restricted to members of the association, but non IAP members can be invited by the IAP Secretariat and by the Conference hosts in consultation with the IAP Secretariat.
According to the IAP Constitution, the General Meeting shall be the body of supreme authority in the Association. It consists of the organisational members, the individual members, the honorary members and the members of the Senate and should meet annually.
The first Annual General Meeting of the IAP took place during the 1st Annual Conference in Budapest. Since then the IAP Annual General Meeting has become a regular feature of the Annual Conference.
