Based in Houston, Muqsit Ashraf focuses on market entry strategy, operational, and supply chain (including logistics and procurement) performance improvement issues for the Oil & Gas industry, in particular unconventional gas, a domain in which he has published and spoken on forums such as the SPE. Muqsit has over his 10+ years as a consultant advised senior clients in various engagements including the following:

• Managed unconventional gas market entry assessment for Independent E&P client
• Led cross-functional transformation of pressure pumping business for large oil field services client to align business model with revamped market landscape and realize savings of $200+ million
• Created a segmented transportation strategy for the downstream operations of energy super-major; engagement involved in depth statistical analysis to define service and delivery models for each customer segment
• Revamped supply chain organization (including transportation fleet and logistics infrastructure) for one of the largest regional utilities with focus on realizing near-term savings and instituting a long-term operation model
• Conducted high-level opportunity identification exercise within global petroleum supply chain of energy major; work resulted in development of intellectual capital on managing process industrysupply chain
• Led development of breakthrough thinking on setting up a lean supply chain for unconventional hydrocarbon plays
• Defined supply policies (customer response, sourcing, inventory and manufacturing policies) for one of the largest manufacturers of fuel dispensers and point-of-sale solutions for petroleum industry
• Scoped out $1+ billion in cross-functional process improvement and cost reduction opportunities at petrochemicals business of oil super-major (later managed program office that helped realize these gains) including opportunities related to procurement and logistics
• Led working capital reduction initiative at a Fortune 5 client aimed at releasing $67 million in cash by redesigning the receivables and payables processes and optimizing inventory within their U.S. fuels retailing and marketing business
• Managed major BPR (business process redesign) program for packaged lubes client – identified operating efficiencies in excess of $250 million and instituted financial and operating-metrics based performance measurement structure.

Muqsit holds a B.S. in Chemistry (Textiles), and an MBA from Yale University. He is Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), a SAP-certified Supply Chain consultant, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Muqsit was previously a Principal at Booz & Company, where he led the firm’s Supply Chain offering for the Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Utilities industries and was a recipient of the firm’s highest award for service, the Professional Excellence Award.
