Keith Bachman
Head of US High Yield

Keith Bachman is a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of US High Yield. Bachman joined Aberdeen in 2007 from Stone Tower Capital where he was Director of Credit Research. Previously, Mr Bachman was a Portfolio Manager at Deutsche Asset Management and High Yield Analyst/Director of Distressed Investments at Oppenheimer Funds. Mr Bachman has also worked at Merrill Lynch Asset Management and T. Rowe Price in high yield credit. He graduated with a BA from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and an MBA from Columbia Business School.


Mary Ann Bartels

Mary Ann Bartels is the Chief Investment Officer of Portfolio Solutions within the Office of the CIO for Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Investment Management and Guidance (IMG) division. She is responsible for contributing to the thought leadership for investment guidance and portfolio solutions for the firm’s financial advisors and clients. Additionally she is leading the marketing and communications for IMG’s content platform, product launches and publications.

Formerly, Ms Bartels was Head of the U.S. Technical & Market Analysis department at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research. Ms Bartels brings over 25 years of investment experience to this role. During her 17 years at the firm, her name has become synonymous with high-quality portfolio strategy and research, earning her the respect of clients and her peers in the industry.

Ms Bartels earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in Economics from Fordham University. She serves on several advisory boards including her alma mater Fordham University.


Clay Drury

Clay L. Drury has worked in the family office space for over seven years and currently oversees a diverse, international portfolio for a family in Chicago. His duties include the analysis and recommendation of hedge funds, private equity, stocks and bonds, etc., and the allocation of such. He received a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and a B.S. from Vanderbilt University. He is a licensed member of the Illinois Bar, and is a CFA charterholder.


Scott Hegerty
Assistant Professor of Economics
Northeastern Illinois University

Scott Hegerty is a macroeconomist with a specialization in international finance and emerging markets. He has authored or coauthored more than 50 articles and book chapters, primarily focusing on exchange rates and economic volatility in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Africa. He has taught MBA courses in finance and statistics at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, and currently teaches macroeconomics and econometrics at NEIU in Chicago. Professor Hegerty holds a B.S. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.


Marta Norton
Investment Manager

Marta Norton’s responsibilities include equity, alternative and fixed income research, asset allocation and portfolio management. Previously, she was a senior mutual fund analyst for Morningstar, Inc.’s fund analyst team. She was also the lead analyst on long-short funds, small-value funds, and telecom funds.

Before joining Morningstar in 2005, Ms Norton was an economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics and a research analyst at LECG, LLC. Ms Norton holds a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and is a CFA charterholder.

Joan Warner

Joanie Warner has been Financial Advisor IQ’s Managing Editor since the service’s launch in 2013. She was previously Managing Editor of Agenda, the corporate governance weekly. Both Financial Advisor IQ and Agenda  are members of the Financial Times family of news services. Previously, Ms Warner held senior editorial positions at Directorship and at Business Week, where she worked for almost 20 years. In 2007, she wrote a book about how to create a great photo album. She holds a BA in Classics & English and an MA in Comparative Literature, both from Harvard.


Jeremy Whitley

Jeremy Whitley was appointed Head of UK and European Equities in July 2009. Previous roles at Aberdeen include Senior Investment Manager on the Global Equity Team as well as the Asian Equities Team based in Singapore. Mr Whitley graduated with an MA (Joint Hons) in English and Art History from the University of St Andrews and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh.
