2014 Sponsorship Opportunities
Celtic refers to a family of somewhat similar cultures, conveyed through their respective languages.
The 2nd Annual Halifax Celtic Festival will again be hosted as a traditional Celtic celebration. Here are the details:
· The weekend of September 12-13, 2014; Halifax Forum Multipurpose Centre, Halifax, NS
· People of all ages and cultures will participate with estimates of 2000+ in year 2
· This festival will be a celebration of Nova Scotia Celtic cultures, languages and heritages through music, dance, artistic displays, activities, food and handcrafts.
The Celtic Cultural Society of Nova Scotia recognizes a need to enhance the opportunities for the community at large to celebrate and learn about Celtic languages and cultures. Our region has a strong, diverse Celtic community with a significant proportion of our population tracing their ancestry back to the original six Celtic regions: Ireland, Scotland, the Isle of Man, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.
The Society wants to celebrate our Celtic identity, bring together Celtic, near-Celtic and non-Celtic members of our communities and enhance our collective Celtic spirit.
Our objective is through greater appreciation of our respective languages and cultures to increase pride in our Celtic identity, provide greater knowledge of our common heritage and history, have increased awareness of the upcoming 400th birthday of Nova Scotia, foster greater connectivity among the 6 distinct Celtic regions, ensure inclusion and appreciation of Celtic languages (Gaelic being a more widely used Celtic language in the Nova Scotia context and others that are used in the province), dance, food and music from the 6 Celtic regions to support greater awareness and appreciation of these important aspects of Nova Scotia’s cultural identity.
The festival will be constructed by a volunteer organizing committee Chaired by Rick Grant. The volunteer organizing committee includes Chairs of Sponsorship, Logistics, Marketing & Communications and Volunteers.
“Celts were distinguished in various ways, by social organization, religion, dress, methods of warfare, for these were matter of which early historians took account; but the main distinction then, as now, will have been that of language”. [Dillon, Chadwick & Evans]Sponsorship Support
As a non-profit, the Celtic Cultural Society of Nova Scotia asks for your support for this festival. The total investment required to produce a weekend event is significant but we know that the event will return on the investment and grow to be a stable component of our Halifax event roster. The investment amounts and benefits at each level are detailed in the chart. Please contact a member of our team to discuss how you can be part of the 2014 Halifax Celtic Festival!
