March 10 – 12, 2014 in Los Angeles
Thank you for a successful GEO 2014 National Conference!
GEO is a community for grantmakers impatient with the pace of progress and hungry for change so that their grantmaking dollars can have greater impact. Though GEO members are champions of effective practice, many still struggle with leading change within their own organizations. GEO's 2014 National Conference will offer these change agents in philanthropy a range of perspectives and new ideas for smarter grantmaking that leads to stronger nonprofits and better results. Through a mix of session topics and formats, structured networking and roundtable discussions with colleagues, and a variety of speakers from inside and outside our sector, attendees will explore issues such as:- Supporting nonprofit capacity and sustainability: What are we learning about how best to support nonprofit sustainability? What are the success stories in supporting nonprofit capacity, and how can we build upon those successes?
- Deepening empathy and engaging stakeholders: How can we best tap the wisdom and experiences of our grantees and other partners to improve our grantmaking? What tactics and tools are available to help us do this better?
- Embracing evaluation and learning: How can we use evaluation and learning to make real-time improvements to our work? How do we create a learning culture within our organizations and in our relationships with grantees? How can we share what we're learning through effective communications?
- Supporting collective action: How can we best partner with other funders, grantees, corporations or government agencies to grow our impact? What are the values and practices needed to be an effective partner in collective efforts, and how might funders need to change?
