Hotel History

When Hilton Birmingham Metropole opened in 1976, few saw the hotel growing to become the largest conference & events hotel outside of London. 40 years on and still standing strong, the hotel now boasts 790 bedrooms and 33 meeting & event rooms.

Hilton Birmingham Metropole has continuously strengthened their status as a Game Changer in the events industry, playing host to over 80,000 meetings and events along the way, including large conferences for globally known companies. They aren’t finished yet either, as they say, life begins at 40.

Travelling from Birmingham New Street Train Station

By Train and Courtesy Bus

From Birmingham New Street Station, take the train to Birmingham International Station. The journey normally takes around 10-15 minutes depending on the time of day. At Birmingham International Station, use the courtesy telephone to ask for the hotel bus to pick you up. The journey from Birmingham International Station to Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel takes 5 minutes by courtesy bus. The 24-hour service runs every 30 minutes. Guests can use the free telephone to call the hotel and ask for the bus to collect them.

Travelling from Birmingham International Train Station

From Birmingham International railway station, guests may use the free telephone to arrange a collection to the hotel, by courtesy bus. The bus stop is Bus Stop C and located next to the taxi rank in the bus depot. The journey to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel takes approximately 5 minutes. The 24-hour service runs at 30-minute intervals, and holds 8-10 people.

Travelling from Birmingham Airport

Due to major security measures in force at Birmingham International Airport, we are no longer permitted to use our courtesy bus service direct to or from the airport. All hotel guests travelling from Birmingham Airport should phone the hotel from the airport or from Birmingham International rail station (free telephone). Guests should take the mono rail to Birmingham International rail station where the shuttle bus will be able to collect passengers. The bus stop is Bus Stop C and located next to the taxi rank in the bus depot. The journey takes approximately five minutes and our courtesy bus runs every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day. The bus stop is Bus Stop C and located next to the taxi rank in the bus depot.

Travelling by Car

From Birmingham International Airport, head south-west on Airport Way/B4438, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A45 slip road to M42/M6/M1/M40/M5/Coventry. Merge onto Coventry Rd/A45 and use the left lane to take the M42 slip road to M6/M1/M40/M5/N.E.C. At Bickenhill Interchange, take the 1st exit onto South Way, which will turn slightly right and becomes Pendigo Way. Keep left to continue towards Pendigo Way. Merge onto Pendigo Way and carry on straight, at the roundabout, take the first exit, Hilton Birmingham Metropole is located on the left.
