Alastair is Head of Group Legal at Baillie Gifford & Co. 

Prior to joining Baillie Gifford & Co he was a corporate and financial services partner at Maclay Murray & Spens LLP, one of Scotland’s ‘Big Three’ law firms, and subsequently Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operations Officer at The City of Edinburgh Council. The latter included managing 18,000 FTE with a revenue budget of £1bn p.a. and overseeing Lothian Pension Fund with AUM of circa £5.5bn. 

Alastair is qualified as a lawyer in both Scotland and England, having graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1995. He is admitted as a member of The Securities Institute, The Law Society of Scotland, The Law Society of England and Wales and a Writer to the Signet.

 
Simon Morris

Simon Morris is a partner in the CMS Cameron McKenna's Financial Services and Products team.  He joined CMS London in 1980, qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and has been a partner since 1988.

Simon specialises in advising financial institutions on commercial and regulatory matters.  He has also represented firms in over 400 regulatory and enforcement proceedings brought by the UK PRA and FCA, their predecessors and overseas regulators.

Simon is a member of the City of London Law Society Financial Services Sub-Committee and author of Financial Services Regulation in Practice (Oxford UP 2016).  He was appointed a Commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission in January 2015 and was named as the Best Regulatory Lawyer of 2008 at Complinet’s Fourth Annual Compliance Awards in January 2008.
