Allison Beeforth

Allison is a passionate 'mathophile; and is keen for others to be just as enthusiastic about Maths as she is. Allison has spent many years teaching Junior and Senior Secondary mathematics subjects in a variety of schools. In 2014, she was awarded the Coomera Anglican College Principal's Bursary which allowed her to travel to Finland and the UK to examine their teaching methods. Allison started her flipped learning journey in 2016 and is keen to share and connect with other educators about her experiences.
 
Jon Bergmann

Jon is one of the pioneers of the Flipped Class Movement. He spent 24 years as a middle and high school science teacher before becoming the lead technology facilitator for a school district in the Chicago suburbs. Today Jon is dedicated to writing, speaking and otherwise evangelizing the flipped classroom concept. Jon co-founded the Flipped Learning Network, a non-profit organization which provides resources and research about flipped learning. In 2002, Jon received the Presidential Award for Excellence for Math and Science Teaching; and in 2010, he was named Semi-Finalist for Colorado Teacher of the Year. He serves on the advisory board for TED-Education. In 2013 he, along with Aaron Sams was one of Tech & Learning’s 10 Most Influential of 2013 and he, along with Aaron Sams,finalists for the Brock International Prize for Education. In 2013, Jon received a Bammy Award from the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences for his pioneering work on flipped learning. Jon is a master storyteller, captivating audiences around the globe. He has a knack for taking complex things and simplifying through story and humor. Though most of his keynotes are about flipped learning, he also speaks about the power of a teacher in students lives and how to make complex things simple.
 
Matt Burns

Matt Burns is the K-12 Flipped Classroom Learning Coach at Inaburra School. This role involves helping and encouraging other educators to flip their classrooms. Matt has run multiple workshops on the ‘Flipped Classroom’ at multiple Sydney school's, and was a speaker at the AIS Technology Integrators Conference 2015, and at FlipCon Australia 2015. He is facilitating Flipped Classroom sessions alongside Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams at FlipCon Au 2016 in Adelaide and Brisbane. Matt is completing Masters degree in Technology at the University of Wollongong, specializing in the flipped classroom model. He has been flipping his classroom for the past 3 years, and is passionate about any teaching strategy which leads to improved student outcomes.
 
Jacqlyn Cassidy

Carmel, Gavin and Jacqlyn have been involved in the implementation of blended learning in Humanities at Saint Stephen’s College since 2013. Together with a dedicated team of teachers and support staff, they have developed a program which has changed the Year 7 – 9 Humanities classroom from a traditional teacher directed space to one which focuses on the needs of the individual student. Developed primarily to enhance the delivery of an individualised and differentiated curriculum, blended learning has completely changed the way Humanities is taught at Saint Stephen’s College and has brought with it some interesting and unplanned benefits for both students and teachers.

Throughout his experiences, he has adopted many different approaches to the incorporation of technology in these subject. Sam Couché

Sam Couche is a Year 6 teacher at Saint Stephen’s College who has 8 years of teaching experience in various Independent Schools in Queensland. He has an interest in inquiry based learning and has taught within the Primary Years Program for much of his career. With 21st Century Learning at the forefront of education, he has been able to implement such skills as collaboration, creativity and problem-solving into current curriculum and uses technology to support the students and their learning on a daily basis. With the use of OneNote and his current Learning Management System, Sam has been able to support students in various ways and construct a differentiated program for all students.

Sherrie Cuthbert was educated in New South Wales, Australia where she completed her Bachelor of Education (English), and in 2009 she completed her Master of Education (Language and Literacy) at Deakin University, Victoria Australia. Sherrie began her career in New South Wales in the independent school sector before moving to Queensland where she taught in government schools and then in the independent sector. Sherrie has served in senior roles, such as Head of English and Director of Teaching and Learning, and is currently the Director of Studies at Saint Stephen’s College, Coomera, Queensland. She has been in this role for the last four years and continues to enjoy the positive challenges.

Jamie Dorrington

Jamie Dorrington was educated in Sydney where he completed his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) with the Diploma of Education and his Master of Arts (Politics) at Macquarie University. Jamie also has Masters degrees in Educational Administration from the University of New South Wales and in Business Administration from Bond University. He’s currently completing a Doctor of Education degree at Griffith University where his research is on the role of academic advisors in a blended learning environment.
 
Ryan Gill

A passion for everything teaching and learning with a focus on critical and creative thinking. As an educator, my core philosophy is that learning is a product of thinking. Early inspiration came in the seminal work of David Leat and the team at Newcastle University, UK and later working alongside the Harvard 'Project Zero' Cultures of Thinking team. I am a key figure in the development of Culture of Thinking and the Flipped Learning ideologies across Australia, speaking regularly at conferences and educational institutions.
 
Danielle Goucher

In her role as Head of Foreign Languages at Saint Stephen’s College since 2009, Danielle Goucher has developed many unique foreign language programs to increase proficiency in the target language. Over the last several years, Danielle has integrated technology that engages her foreign language students effectively when learning vocabulary and new grammar. Furthermore, she has used technology to free up her time as a teacher to spend one on one time assisting speaking improve their speaking skills. Currently Danielle is continuing an Action Research Project with Independent Schools Queensland and trialling various teaching and learning strategies which integrate various webtools and ICTs into her work programs.

I am a father, a husband, and a teacher. I have been teaching science for five years at Cavendish Road State High School in Brisbane, Queensland. I have been flipping my classes for the last two years. I believe that my role as a teacher is to help prepare students for life after school, by helping them develop core skills and competencies that they can apply to any vocation. Prior to teaching, I was a physiotherapist.
 
Paul Hemphill

Paul Hemphill is a Year 6 teacher at Saint Stephen’s College. He has over 15 years of teaching experience in both Australia and New Zealand. He has been interested in e-learning throughout his career. In 2014 he worked with Microsoft educators and his colleagues redesigning the Year 6 learning experiences around the 21st Century Learning Design skills of; collaboration, knowledge construction, self-regulation, problem-solving and innovation, information and communications technology (ICT) for learning, skilled communication. With these skill focuses now imbedded in Year 6 learning opportunities at Saint Stephen’s College, Paul and his colleagues are now developing content for the College’s online Learning Management System. As Paul and his students work more digitally, opportunities for meaningful revision and differentiation become increasingly attainable. Digital tools such as OneNote are beginning to replace traditional classroom tools such as note books and opening up new possibilities.

He enjoys supporting teachers to embed technology into their teaching and learning processes. Currently working for Microsoft, his role is to go into schools (for FREE) to train teachers on the use of Microsoft education tools like Office Mix, Office 265, Office 2016, Windows 10, OneNote, Kodu and Minecraft.
 
Jacinda Kontoleon

I have recently jointed Saint Stephens as a senior Mathematics and Physics teacher. Graduating from QUT in 2013 I have been eager in engage in a range of activities to augment my teaching skills and processes. Prior to entering the field of education I was employed as a commercialisation scientist within the Bio-Technology and robotics industry. My skill set further extends to the field of business, successfully operating a string of gyms and supplement stores. While the grand sum of my life experiences have indeed shaped my passion for providing innovate education, it is the student enthusiasm and consequent engagement that is the quintessential my motivation.
 
Jeremy LeCornu

Jeremy LeCornu is the Digital Learning Coordinator at Brighton Secondary School in South Australia. He is passionate about making curriculum content readily accessible to students anywhere and anytime by producing video lesson content for his Biology students. Jeremy has had great success through publishing these lessons on YouTube and anytimeeducation.com. Flipped learning enables Jeremy to maximise his face-to-face class time to develop positive relationships with students and provide them with challenging learning opportunities. As much as Jeremy loves to use video content to enhance his own teaching, he is equally passionate about inspiring and helping others. He is currently completing Masters research focused on flipped learning and he has been responsible for leading the implementation of a whole school flipped learning program at two schools in Adelaide. As a professional, dedicated teacher and leader, I pride myself in providing a caring supportive learning environment to enhance student engagement and learning. I have a PhD in Linguistics and in a previous life, I have published essentially on Corpus-based approaches to term extraction. Working for the French Foreign Affairs, I have been a director of Alliance Française (a French school and cultural centre) in Glasgow and Brisbane as well as a deputy director in Melbourne. I have Head of Languages at All Saints Anglican School since 2014. I am also Panel chair for French for The Gold Coast and Brisbane East.

Aaron Sams has been an educator since 2000. He operates the education consulting firm Sams Learning Designs, is an Adjunct Professor at Saint Vincent College, and serves as an advisor to TED-Ed. In 2009 he was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching while teaching Chemistry in Woodland Park, CO and serving as co-chair of the Colorado State Science Standards Revision Committee. Aaron has co-authored seven books on the Flipped Classroom concept. Aaron is an internationally recognized education keynote speaker and has trained thousands of teachers, administrators, and professors to integrate new technology with sound pedagogy. With experience in public, private, and home schools, in both face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments, Aaron brings a unique educational perspective to any audience. He is a lifelong learner, reader, maker, and explorer. He holds both a B.S. in Biochemistry and an M.A.Ed. from Biola University.

His is a Microsoft Innovative Educator (Expert) and Surface Expert, and his organisation was awarded the BrightSpace APAC Innovation Award for Online Learning Environments in 2015, along with Victoria University and Singapore Management University.

Nine years ago I started teaching in Sydney's South West. Starting my career in a newly established school with a vibrant staff I learned the value of innovation and developed a drive to always be a better teacher than I was the day before. I moved to a rural school in NSW's Central West six years ago and picked up a book in the staff-room on the Flipped Classroom. Instantly captivated by the possibilities I jumped in with both feet flipping all of my classes at once. Since then I have become an AIS-Experienced Teacher through the Research Pathway conducting first-hand action research on the effectiveness of the flipped classroom in team teaching situation and am currently an Action Research Team Leader for our school. Currently I am running action research on Gamification of the Flipped Classroom and its effectiveness as a pedagogy. I teach Science and Senior Chemistry.

I have always been open to emerging ideas that relate to flexible models of course delivery, curriculum development, pedagogical practice, and critically, student engagement, and, are willing to take risks to set new precedents with the use of technology while providing safe, supportive environments within my classes, with student learning personalised, so it supports improved student learning outcomes. I have always worked collaboratively, and communicated with, a range of teaching and non-teaching staff within OAC and across S.A. schools / Australia, & the SACE board in a wide variety of roles. I have won many scholarships for my work with E-learning. I presented and published papers nationally & internationally on the use of on-line learning technologies.
