Alistair Hudson

Financial & Legal Skills Partnership









Alistair Hudson joined the Financial and Legal Skills Partnership in February 2008.

After graduating from the University of Bristol with a Modern Languages degree, he worked for Lloyds TSB Bank for 16 years in a variety of areas including Latin American Trade Finance, International Wealth Management and Correspondent Banking. In his last role at the Bank he was a Senior Manager in International Banking with responsibility for the Bank’s branch networks in Latin America,the Netherlands and Belgium.


For two years before joining the FLSP Alistair worked for Ecotec Research and Consulting as a Contract Manager on a portfolio of European Social Fund projects aimed at upskilling the London workforce and encouraging economically inactive Londoners to learn new skills and rejoin the workforce.


Alistair has had a variety of roles in his time at the FLSP, mostly involving employer engagement to ensure that the UK’s Finance, Accountancy and Financial Services workforce is as skilled as possible, and also ensuring that Finance, Accountancy and Financial Services represents a career of first choice for school leavers and graduates. Following this year’s merger with Skills for Justice, this work now also covers the Legal sector. He has also managed a number of high profile projects, including the FLSP’s “Through the Glass Ceiling” programme for senior women, with the aim of addressing the gender imbalance at the top of our sector. He is currently the FLSP’s Skills Research Manager, working with employers to identify skills needs and using the information to influence the FLSP’s work with government and other partners.





 

 
Tim Chewter

Tim joined AELP full time in 2010 as a Researcher, providing both an internal and external research function for AELP. As well as undertaking research into the demographics and representation of its membership, Tim also undertook a number of research studies around the Minimum Contract Levels, the utilization of the Qualifications Credit Framework among providers, Higher Level Skills, WBL Workforce Data Collection, Ofsted grading and Functional Skills, to name a few.
In his current capacity as Research & Project Manager, Tim has undertaken research looking at the drivers for provider supply chain practises and the current state of Teaching, Learning and Assessment among Independent Training Providers. This research has been used extensively among government agencies to influence and inform key policy decisions as well as highlighting the support needs of the sector.
In recent months, Tim has been coordinating the £700k Apprenticeship Application Support Fund, which is enabling providers to engage and support those who have previously been unsuccessful in applying for an apprenticeship. He is also responsible for the writing and editing of AELP’s monthly e-publication Sector Connect.
Tim is recently married and outside of work is a keen cellist.
