There are two things you should know about Portland:

1. It’s a very fun city – lots to do after the workday ends.

2. Bring a coat and an umbrella!

The mean temperature during the middle of October tends to be about 50 degrees. So, it might range from 35 or 40 in the morning to almost 60 at the warmest point. But it might also be 45 and drizzling all day. In either case, we are undoubtedly talking about “gear” weather – a sweater for the northerners among us, a heavier coat for the thin-blooded southerners.

In the meantime, here are some recent superlatives that the national press and trades have bestowed upon Portland, Maine:

· The eighth best restaurant scene in the country. (Huffington Post)

· 10th best place for living a healthy, active life. (Women’s Health)

· 11th most hipster neighborhood in the country. (Forbes)

· 3rd best city in the U.S. for families. (Parenting Magazine).

· 7th greenest city in the country. (Travel & Leisure Magazine)

· America’s Most Livable City. (Forbes)

· Best lobster roll I ever had. (Anonymous CMG employee).
