International Association of Emergency Managers CEM mentoring - International Association of Emergency Managers AEM and CEM Exam, Overview, and Mentoring Workshop - IAEM is hosting a day of activities designed to help emergency managers achieve Associate Emergency Manager and Certified Emergency Manager. From 8:00-10:00 a.m. the AEM/CEM proctored exam (Must have already applied and paid fees for AEM/CEM through www.iaem.com.) Then from 10:00am-Noon there will be an AEM/CEM Overview open to anyone who is interested in learning about the AEM/ CEM certification program including the requirements and application process. The Overview will be facilitated by IAEM-USA Region President Carolyn J. Harshman, CEM. The day-long event will conclude with a 1:00-5:00pm Mentoring Workshop to review individual AEM and CEM applications and a question and answer session with CEM Commissioner Valerie Lucas-McEwen.

Work Process Flow, Strategic and Advanced Concepts for Disaster Cost Recovery - In the morning session, Cost Recovery Work Flow deals with what information is needed for cost recovery; who collects the information; how is the information processed; who gets the information; and how is the information filed for easy access over the life of a Project Worksheet? Because every agency is different in size, services provided and organizational structure, the course does not try to provide a one size fits all approach. Rather, it works through a series of exercises designed to elicit the information needed for a local government agency to create its own process based on its needs and the requirements of FEMA's Public Assistance program. A number of exercise tools are provided to create a learning structure. In the afternoon, Advanced Concepts for Disaster Cost Recovery includes information on 1) why disaster cost recovery planning is important now; 2) a broad overview of Federal disaster cost recovery principles; 3) recent changes in the Public Assistance program regulations; 4) current thinking on disaster cost recovery; 5) disaster cost recovery best practices; and 6) principles for effective disaster cost recovery.

G-191 EOC Interface - The course provides an opportunity for emergency management and response personnel to begin developing an Incident Command System (ICS)/Emergency Operations Center (EOC)interface for their communities. The course reviews ICS and EOC responsibilities and functions and depends heavily on exercises and group discussions to formulate an interface. This course works best when delivered to Incident Command System and Emergency Operations Center personnel from the same community.
