Chris Turner Chris Turner, Head of Qualifications Assurance for learndirect, has a background in the employment, enterprise and skills sectors with over 18 years’ experience. Chris has worked in both senior operational and quality related roles for some of the largest providers in the sector. Following a background in television production, Chris joined the National Council for Vocational Qualifications in 1995 before later taking up a post with the North London Training and Enterprise Council. Chris spent a 10 year period at Avanta Enterprise (TNG) during which time he directed enterprise, work-based learning and employment led programmes both on a national and regional basis. Chris joined learndirect in 2011 and currently leads on the assurance of all learndirect qualification delivery including those associated with over 5,000 Business Skills Apprentices. |

Ian Sugarman Ian Sugarman is the Qualifications Development Manager at Skillsfirst Awards and has been working within the Training and Development sector for nearly 35 years. Before joining Skillsfirst just over 5 years ago, Ian was the Quality and Accreditation Manager at another Awarding Organisation, where he was also responsible for the development of food and cleaning related qualifications and learning support material. As a freelance training consultant for over 25 years, Ian was involved in the initial development of National Occupational Standards and the subsequent National Vocational Qualifications in a number of sectors including Utilities, Ceramics and Manufacturing. He was also responsible for developing a range of nationally recognised vocationally-related qualifications in Food Manufacturing, Customer Service, Sales, Contact Centre and Business Administration, as well as the accompanying assessment material, such as assignments and multiple choice questionnaires. Whilst working at Skillsfirst Awards, Ian has been involved in the development of all their bespoke and Ofqual-regulated qualifications and has been instrumental in the development of the qualifications within the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Recruitment Resourcing. |

Vicki Nee Vicki Nee joined Nicholas Associates at the end of 2013 to
support its growth and development plans and she is working closely with
their ATA. Prior to joining Vicki worked at Acua (the commercial arm of
Coventry University); she was part of the initial team who set it up as a
consultancy focused on leadership development. She was responsible for
defining its offer and setting up the marketing and business development
function. It was recognised as a beacon of best practice by the CBI and
worked with over 120 organisations spanning a variety of sectors. Previously
Vicki worked in the Apprenticeship arena as Head of Business Development at the
National Training Partnership working with national employers. She has
extensive knowledge of the learning, training and consultancy markets and a
proven track record of business growth, partnership development and managing
relationships. |

Stella Turner Stella is responsible for keeping a ‘watching brief’ on matters related to qualifications and curriculum development. She represents AELP on groups such as the Skills Funding Agency’s Qualifications Approvals and Governance Group and the BIS Vocational Qualifications Forum plus various Awarding Organisation Consultative Committees.
Since joining AELP Stella has managed a number of projects, including work related to the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) Readiness Programme, Functional Skills Support, Unit Delivery Trials, the review of FE Teaching and Training Qualifications and the promotion of Higher Level Skills. More recently she has taken on responsibility for overseeing and managing work allocations within AELP’s delivery team. Stella has always worked in the education and training sector and has over 10 years experience of working for a work based learning provider.
As a Senior Training Manager for a large training provider in Bristol, she was responsible for a team of ten, overseeing and contributing to the design and delivery of a range of both government funded and commercial programmes including IT courses, Apprenticeships and NVQs in a variety of occupational areas. Prior to joining AELP Stella worked for the Awarding Body OCR as a Customer Support Manager.
