"Gout is the most prevalent inflammatory arthritis and affects 1 in 40 people in the UK. It is very well understood, yet treatment in both primary and secondary care is often poor, leading to chronic joint pain and damage, and poor quality of life" (Edward Roddy).
Learning objectives
Understand the pathogenesis of gout and hyperuricaemia including the role of novel co-morbid, dietary and pharmacological risk factors
Learn about the diagnosis of gout including the use of novel imaging modalities
Understand how gout should be optimally-managed including treatment of acute attacks, patient education and lifestyle, and best current practice and new approaches to urate-lowering therapy
Who should attend
Consultant rheumatologists, trainees, GPs, hospital specialists in other specialties.
CPD accreditation
The course will be accredited by the Royal College of Physicians. Delegates will receive 6 CPD points via a CPD certificate which will be emailed to delegates following the course.
