Kostas Mallios  |  Applied Materials

Kostas Mallios is Corporate Vice President for Applied AI at Applied Materials, Inc. He is responsible for accelerating the implementation of Applied’s strategy to pursue new opportunities in the $10T AI market inflection.

Kostas brings broad business and technical knowledge spanning a number of technology sectors. He spent much of his career at Microsoft, as General Manager. In Microsoft’s Product and M&A groups, he led product development, growth strategies including deal execution and integration for multibillion dollar acquisitions. Kostas also served as Vice President of R&D at Intellectual Ventures, a $9B invention capital fund.  In the last ten years he has led several companies to record breaking exits and served on multiple company Boards leading growth and transformation.

Kostas co-founded PJ Tech Catalyst VC fund with Piraeus Bank and the EIF and has independently led several private equity deals in the US, Europe and Greece.

Kostas has an MBA in Management and Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in Marketing Management from Siena College.

 


 

Moe Tanabian  | Microsoft

In his role as Vice President, General Manager – Azure Edge AI and IoT Devices, Platforms and Services, Moe Tanabian leads a multidisciplinary organization that includes engineering, product management, program management, design and ecosystem. The team has a clear mandate to create new markets, products & technologies in IoT/Edge AI through integration of platforms from silicon to service.

Prior to joining Microsoft, he worked for Samsung as Corporate Vice President and CDO of Smart Devices and IoT Platforms where he led and developed several new product categories of AI and IoT-based products that integrated HW, SW and various forms of AI, including smart speakers, robots, ambient intelligent spaces, smart appliances, and more. Before Samsung, Moe worked for AWS and Amazon and built several IaaS, and PaaS cloud services, and devices including Amazon Fire Tablet, Amazon Fire Phone, and Amazon Fire TV.

Moe started tinkering with Digital and Analog Electronics and wrote his first line of code when he was a young teenager. After finishing engineering in college, he worked as a software engineer for over a decade. Later in his career he developed a great sense of respect for and interest in product and design disciplines, and how magical products are an intersection of leading-edge engineering, great design and fluid business model.

He holds a MSc from Carleton University in Canada in Computer & Information Science, a MBA from Queen’s School of business in Canada and studied with Clay Christensen at Harvard Business School on Disruptive Innovation. He also studied design at Stanford school. Moe is a Senior member of the IEEE.

 


 

Ulrich Homann  |  Microsoft

Ulrich Homann is a Distinguished Architect in the Cloud and Enterprise business at Microsoft. As part of the senior engineering leadership team, he’s responsible for the customer-led innovation efforts across the cloud and enterprise platform portfolio. Previously Homann was the Chief Architect for Microsoft worldwide enterprise services, having formerly played a key role in the business’ newly-formed Platforms, Technology and Strategy Group.

Prior to joining Microsoft in 1991, he worked for several small consulting companies, where he designed and developed distributed systems and has spent most of his career using well-defined applications and architectures to simplify and streamline the development of business applications. Homann holds a bachelor of computer science from the University of Cologne, Germany.

Dimitris Mallas  |  Journalist

Dimitris Mallas is a more than 25 years experienced journalist working for Business/ Financial newspapers as well as Trade Press and also for the last 15 years has been working on news sites on the web.

Mr. Mallas covers topics regarding the use of digital technologies, both from a technological and a business point of view, with a substantial understanding of the convergence of these two sectors with the Internet and mass media. He also covers the innovation & startup ecosystem as well as the European and global perspective of how innovation is changing our everyday lives and the way we do business.

He is considered one of the best in his field and had a lot of interviews with top executive from IT and telcos companies from around the world and he has covered most of the biggest events around tech and innovation held worldwide.

He works for CNN Greece and DPG, the largest online media network in Greece, while he is contributing articles to several financial, IT & Telecoms newsites such as Moved.gr, 2045.gr, deasy.gr, and Web World News. Also, he is very active in podcasts taking part in some of the most successful in the Greek media ecosystem such as “3 ston aera” (Insomnia.gr), “Apla Psifiaka” (Moved.gr) and “Business Stories” (CNN Greece).

He is 48 years old, has one daughter and speaks English (fluently) and French. He has a degree from the Mass Media & Communication Department of the National Kapodistriakon University of Athens.
