Apprenticeship Staff Support Programme Dissemination Conference

Apprenticeship Staff Support Programme (ASSP) Dissemination Conference
Developing Staff to Achieve the Best Outcome for Learners

Date: Thursday, 26 February 2015

Venue: Holiday Inn, Central Birmingham

Background

The Education & Training Foundation commissioned AELP and its partners (HOLEX, 157 Group, AoC, NIACE and Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce) to manage a programme of provider led projects that would increase the quality and professional capacity of individual staff delivering Apprenticeships. The fourteen projects that were commissioned and funded focused on at least one of the following areas:

1. Securing and further developing employer involvement in Apprenticeship delivery – supporting staff to engage successfully with employers to secure Apprenticeships.

2. Further improving curriculum development and teaching, learning and assessment on Apprenticeship programmes- with a particular focus on developing effective strategies based on those proposed by the Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning (CAVTL), developing the use of technology in Apprenticeships and embedding English and maths in vocational delivery.

This event provides an opportunity to learn from the project leads and to review a selection of the resources produced by the projects.

Event Overview

This event provides an opportunity to learn from the project leads, to review a selection of the resources and to take advice from those involved in the free consultancy visits.

Objectives
Delegates will;
  • Gain an awareness of the range of ASSP resources available to help develop the skills of staff involved in Apprenticeship delivery.
  • Understand how the resources can be incorporated into staff development plans.
  • Understand how the resources will benefit staff and have a positive impact on learners and employers.
  • Develop an understanding of ways in which the resources will help them prepare for the introduction of Apprenticeship standards and funding reforms.
  • Begin to develop a network of providers with whom to share the experiences of managing the transition from Apprenticeship frameworks to standards.
Who should attend?
Managers, those responsible for staff development/HR and front line staff working in a variety of provider settings e.g. ITPs, Colleges, ACL.

The ASSP Dissemination Conference will be invaluable for all those involved in the delivery of Apprenticeships. Whether they are front-line staff or managers responsible for ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to achieve the best outcomes for learners and the employers they work with on Apprenticeship programmes.
