Amani Kamal Mohamed Akeelah Saqallah

Amani Kamal MNSP, MSc. BSc. RDN. LD.MBA has completed her BSc degree from King Faisal University and had her one year residency training at King Fahad Educational Hospital, KSA. She had her formal RD training at Kansas State and he Master Degree in Nutrition Science and Policy with the combination of Public Health at Tufts University, Boston, USA in 2013.

Amani practices her medical nutrition therapy as full time job in counseling clinic until present. She developed successful nutrition workshops to meet age group educational needs. She designed and implemented innovative programs benefiting public and enhancing their well living skills & self-esteems. She launched an ongoing event agenda that included well being & healthy lifestyle. She facilitated supportive services and counseling for family members to address special medical concerns and ease the transition to healthy living through practical life programs,. She served as speaker to many conferences in UAE and abroad. She achieved her Health Care MBA and Field Dietitian - Health Researcher Certificate from North Carolina and UAEU. She has joined Zayed University in 2014. Amani is a freelancer member at Abu Dhabi CVD Public Health (Weqaya-Nutrition).

She has an affiliation with the Emirate Strategic Research Center ESRC and her research focus is on behavior change, lifestyle and public health roles in prevention disease such as Obesity, DM, Cancers and CVD in UAE and GCC. She has volunteering roles in several humanitarian agencies and certified as “Public Health Ambassador“ by Abu Dhabi Department of Health since 2015.

 
Eeva-Liisa Langille
Consultant Pediatrician & Medical Director
Salma Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital

Eeva-Liisa has over 25 years’ experience in Pediatrics – more than 15 years in Neonatology and 10 years interest as Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She has excellent educational background and experience from Finland, Australia and United Arab Emirates.

She has been working in Abu Dhabi including Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center as Medical Director for Pediatrics, Burjeel Hospital as Head of Pediatric Department, and in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City as Division Head for General Pediatrics. Before heading to Abu Dhabi, Eeva joined Australia Royal Women’s Hospital in Sydney and John Hunter hospital in Newcastle, In Finland Vaasa Central Hospital.

Presently, she is working in UAE to establish a new facility for pediatric rehabilitation with multidisciplinary approach, Salma Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital aims to become a leading facility in this area with new vigor and evidence based practices.

 
Haleama Al Sabbah Ph.D
Associate Professor and Chair of Health Sciences Department

Haleama Al Sabbah is an Associate Professor and Chair of Health Sciences Department at Zayed University in Dubai. She completed her Ph.D in Public Health Nutrition (Medical Sciences) in 2008 from the Faculty of Medicine, Gent University, Belgium. She was awarded a doctoral scholarship from Belgian Technic al Cooperation (BTC). Her Ph.D study was part of the National Study of Palestinian Health Behaviors in School-aged Children (HBSC-2004). From 2011-2012, she was a Fulbright Senior Visiting Scholar and did Post-Doctoral studies in Public Health and Nutrition at Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Center, Tufts University, Boston, USA.

From 2009 to 2013, she served as director of Public Health Department, Faculty of Medicine, An-Najah University, Palestine. Haleama has published numerous articles in scientific journals and served as an editorial board member and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journal s. She has participated in many conferences, courses and research studies all over the world, including Europe, USA, Canada, West Africa and some Arab countries.

 
Najamunissa Basha
Consultant in Family Medicine wSI Diabetes
Newcastle Primary Health Care

Najamunissa Basha is a Consultant in Family Medicine With special Interest in Diabetes working in Newcastle primary health care. After completing her MBBS from India she moved to the UK where she joined the specialist training (VTS) and achieved her CCT in General Practice/ Family Medicine. She completed her MRCGP from the Royal College of General Practitioners, London. She also trained in Family Planning and obtained a DFFP.

She has a great interest in Diabetes care and achieved Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes with Distinction and Merit Award from the University of Leicester, U.K. She moved to KSA in 2011 and worked in Premier Institutions like King Fahd Medical City and the Ministry of National Guard hospital in Riyadh. She moved to Abu Dhabi in 2016 and started with Healthplus family center.

Apart from family medicine she has experience in Home Health Care and Chronic Disease care. Her clinical interest includes Diabetes management at community level. She has a great passion for patient education especially in Diabetes self-management education and support. Her other interests include Nutritional and pharmacologic therapy in Type 2 Diabetes. She was responsible for regular teaching and clinical meetings for Diabetes in primary health care for trainees and colleagues.

She was instrumental in establishing the first Specialized Diabetes Clinic in Primary Health Care and served as broad member for Chronic Disease Care Committee in King AbdulAziz Medical City, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh. In Newcastle PHC along with the DOH Waqeya program, she will be starting the Diabetes prevention and management program at community level.

 
Fatima Sadek
Senior Dietician and Public Health Officer
Imperial College London Diabetes Centre

Fatima Sadek leads ICLDC’s Public Health Outreach Programme and in this capacity has led the development and delivery of a series of innovative and comprehensive healthy lifestyle workshops across the UAE. These workshops have successfully reached more than 20,000 individuals as well as a wide range of corporates and schools.

In addition, Fatima regularly appears as a nutrition expert on a number of broadcast outlets in the Emirates, including Abu Dhabi TV and Fatafeat, where she hosts the popular healthy cookery show ‘Sukar Mazbout’ reaching millions of households in the Middle East region since its launch in 2009.

Throughout her accomplished career, Fatima has spoken at a number of leading industry conferences, delivering presentations and participating in panel discussions on topics relating to healthy nutrition choices and its importance to health. It is also a personal mission of Fatima’s to help influence UAE society for the better when it comes to health and nutrition, sharing her knowledge in simple ways to help individuals to understand the essentials in terms of how to enhance their approach to a healthy lifestyle with some small changes.

Fatima received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetic s from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and her Masters in Public Health from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

 
Asma Alsuwaidi

Asma completed her studies in Public Health and Nutrition from Zayed University. She has an interest in research to improve the quality of public health in the society. As part of her field, she enjoys spreading positive thoughts about healthy lifestyle and how incredibly it is to the person’s daily life. She reflects her education through participating in conferences to initiate more research in the Middle East region.

 
Alice Sabounji
Clinical Dietitian
Danat Al Emarat Hospital

Alice holds a Master’s degree in human nutrition from the University of Delaware, USA and a bachelor degree in nutrition and dietetics from the Saint Joseph University in Lebanon. Mrs. Sabounji worked as a clinical dietitian at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for women and children and provided medical nutrition therapy for the treatment and prevention of many diseases such as gestational diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity, food allergies, failure to thrive and gastrointestinal disorders. She was also involved in the evaluation and the development of feeding plans for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Clinic.

 
Mohamed Yousif Abdalla Alnaqbi

Mohamed is a Senior Inspector working for Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority. He completed his Bachelor of Public Health and Nutrition from Zayed University, Abu Dhabi and became an International Certified Trainer. He attended different training courses including Advanced Food Safety, Food Samples, Risk Analysis in Food and Based Risk Inspection System.

 
Farah Hillou
Registered Dietitian & Adjunct Instructor
Zayed University

Farah Hillou is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, Canada, as well as with the Commission of Dietetic Registration, USA. She earned her undergraduate degree in nutrition from the University of Nottingham, UK and her postgraduate degrees in dietetics and community nutrition from McGill University, Canada. Farah has been involved in academia for the past seven years, instructing nutrition and dietetics students in a variety of clinical and public health nutrition courses, in addition to supervising internship students and participating in several research projects. Farah has also worked in corporate health and wellness, where she continues to provide nutrition consultancy to several entities including companies and media. Furthermore, she serves as a member of the HAAD Nutrition Task Force. Farah’s strong interest in integrating genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors in addressing physiological imbalances and root causes of chronic disease has led her to seek Certification as an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Practitioner (USA).

 
Zeinab Dahir Awad Alishaq

Zeinab has more than 15 years of clinical experience from different facilities in United Arab Emirates. Before moving to Medcare Hospital Women and Children in 2015, she serves different hospitals since 2003 such as Mafraq Hospital as Pediatric Nurse, Samsung Medical Center as Charge Nurse, Mediclinic City Hospital as Team Leader in Pediatrics Department and Al Noor Hospital as Diabetes Educator. On January 2018, she starts working for Mediclinic Airport Hospital as Diabetes Educator.

She completed her Diploma in Nursing Science from Institute of Nursing in 2002, then, obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Griffith University (2010) and from Fatima College in Health Science (2013). She enriched her educational attainment as enrolled and finished an advanced level Post-graduate Degree in Diabetes Education and Clinical Care from Malmo University in 2015. This year, she completed her Master Degree in Education Concentration Management Leadership and Policy from British University.

 
Sumaya Saeed Abdullah

She completed her internship at the Department of Health Abu Dhabi that spiked her interest in public health and nutrition and provided her with an eye opening experience of working with the community.
