APPES & APEG Joint Meeting 2014

General Information

Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) & Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group (APEG) Joint Meeting
29 October - 1 November 2014
Darwin, Australia

Invitation to Attend

Prof Fergus Cameron, PRESIDENT OF APEG

On behalf of the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group (APEG) I would like to invite you to attend the first joint APPES/APEG Scientific meetings (and the  33rd  APEG Annual Scientific Meeting) being held from the 29 - 31 October 2014 in Darwin, Australia. Whilst we will be meeting in Australia, we will be closer to Asia than most of the major Australian cities. Hence it is highly appropriate that Darwin will be the location for this joint meeting with our Asian and Pacific colleagues and we are delighted to be co-hosting this sentinel meeting between our two societies. Given that in 2015 there will be another joint meeting between APEG and the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), it is also highly appropriate that this meeting include and ISPAD- sponsored symposium.  There will also be a strong focus on practical aspects of endocrine and diabetes therapies.

We hope that you will not only enjoy the science and collegiality of our meetings but that you will also take time to explore the Northern Territory and immerse yourself in its physical beauty and rich Aboriginal cultural heritage.

Welcome!

Prof Reiko Horikawa, PRESIDENT OF APPES

On behalf of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) I would like to invite you to attend our first joint meeting which is being held with the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group (APEG).  APEG are merging their annual scientific meeting to hold it jointly with our APPES biennial meeting and both societies are working together to create a truly joint program.

The meeting will be held in Darwin, regionally located closer to most of the APPES member countries than many of the Australian major cities!  We are delighted to be working with APEG to bring you this meeting and look forward to welcoming you all to Darwin to enjoy the Australian hospitality.

Dr Pik To Cheung, APPES Chair, and A/Prof Michelle Jack, APEG Chair, CHAIRS OF SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM COMMITTEE

We are delighted to invite you to attend the 8th APPES Biennial Scientific Meeting, being held jointly with the Australasian Paediatric Endocrine Group (APEG).  This is the first time APPES has held a truly joint meeting with another society and we look forward to bringing you an excellent program, merging the best of both societies.

The work of the scientific program organising committee is ongoing, but we have confirmed an exciting group of Plenary and Symposia speakers from the Asia Pacific Region, Europe and the USA. Topics include phosphate metabolism, developmental origins of health and disease and adrenal disorders.

We’re also very pleased to have the President and President elect of the International society of Paediatric Diabetes (ISPAD) presenting in symposia sessions and in practical diabetes sessions. We will offer a two-day Practical diabetes stream, specifically targeting Paediatricians, Fellows, nursing and allied health colleagues with an interest in Paediatric Diabetes.

We invite you to submit your abstracts for both orals and poster sessions.

Darwin is a unique destination in Australia with so much to offer.  We encourage you to attend, present and participate in this exciting joint meeting. We look forward to welcoming you to Darwin in October.
