Saleem AlBlooshi

Mr. Saleem AlBlooshi is currently the Executive Vice President of Infrastructure and Technology of Du, a fast-growing enterprise in the United Arab Emirates. Saleem took the challenge of leading a team that includes Contact Center Operations - Dubai based and Partners Offshore Operations, Customer Service Experience program operations, Fixed and Mobile Network development and Operations where Network Operations is fully outsourced to an external Partner, He provides leadership that drives continuous improvement and development of critical operational by building fixed, mobile and IT converged infrastructure. He contributes in establishing the company’s technical vision and technology development. Prior to joining du, Saleem assumed a senior position in Etisalat, a UAE based telecommunications services provider. Saleem built and led a team to operate public internet infrastructure, expansion of Etisalat core network to GIGA bit infrastructure, design and implementation of Emirates Internet Exchange Infrastructure (EMIX). Previously, Saleem served as Chief Technology Officer in Dubai World Central JV, a 140 square kilometer urban aviation community centered on the world's largest international airport. Saleem has 21 years strategic and operational telecom experience. He is credited with leading the team in designing and building Next Generation Network (NGN) of Canar Communications in Sudan. Saleem earned his Telecom Engineering degree from Etisalat University College in 1995.
 
Nicolas Almendro

Based in Madrid (Spain) for more than 5 years, Nicolas Almendro is Nokia Europe & MEA Optics Business Development & Consulting Engineering Vice-President, leading a region-wide team supporting the Optical business of Nokia in these two regions. Nokia is leading the EMEA Optical market, according to all analysts. Before relocating to Spain at the end of 2011, Nicolas was heading the Optics Competence Center for Asia-Pacific, based in Shanghai (China), where he arrived in May 2006. Prior to that, Nicolas was Telefonica Key Account Manager in Huawei and Nortel in Spain. From 1986 until 1995 Nicolas held different R&D and Product Management positions within Alcatel-Lucent in Spain and Germany. In 1996-97 he was responsible for Network Release and Network Migration Product Management in ALU Optical Network Division HQ in Italy. After his return to Spain, he took the responsibility of the Optical Pre-Sales Support Team in ALU Spain. Nicolas graduated from Telecommunications Superior Engineering School in “Universidad Politécnica” of Madrid in 1985.
He is also a Master in Business Administration from I.E.S.E Business School (Spain), holds a Master in Marketing Telecommunications from Insead (France), and completed the General Management Program in Insead (Singapore).

Marco Belotti is a Training and Certification Professional and he deals with the “Optical Networks Certification” Program. Prior to joining the Learning Services, he played as Project Manager and TEC engineer, with focus on Optical products (1830 PSS, 1350 OMS, 1850 TSS, etc.). He handled introduction, management and configuration of optic/electric transmission systems in major customers’ networks, becoming a world traveler by joining more than 60 projects in about 25 countries worldwide during his 10-year experience in Nokia.

Prior to joining product management, he was part of the R&D team that introduced the first generation of 100G coherent cards. He has held positions as General Manager of Optical business units, along with Global leadership positions in R&D, Supply Chain, System Engineering, Product Line Management, and Business Development. Over the course of his career, Sam has worked to provide telecom solutions to both service providers and enterprise customers, as well as the sale of these solutions through and to value added resellers and system integrators worldwide.

Prior to joining Nokia, she was an Assistant Professor at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, in Pisa, Italy in the field of network design and simulation. Marc Degieux is Regional Product Line Manager in the field of network designs, architecture & interworking. Marc started his career at MARBEN in the field of telecom software & protocol stack development. He stood for MARBEN in the SONET Interworking Forum. In 1999, he joined Alcatel where he held various positions as software leader, tendering manager and DWDM designer. Since 2013, he is in charge of network design tools within EMEA Regional Business Center. Marc holds an Engineering Master Degree from the Institut Catholique D’Arts & Métiers in Lille (France).

Enrico Di Lorenzo is Senior Product Line Manager for Metro in the IP & Optical Networks Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Business Center of Nokia. In his role, Enrico focuses on promoting new Nokia technologies and discussing Metro Optical solutions in a pre-sales role, interacting with the customers of the Region, and facilitating the business development. Previously Enrico Di Lorenzo was Senior Product Line Manager for Packet Transport Networks within the Alcatel-Lucent IP Transport Product Unit, accumulating a long experience in network strategy and product lifecycle management. Formerly Enrico worked in the Alcatel-Lucent R&D Labs on advanced high-speed technologies and Packet transport equipment, building a strong R&D background. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent in 2000, Enrico worked by the aerospace company Tecnospazio and by STMicroelectronics. Enrico helds a summa cum laude Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano University.

Josef started his career in the Aviation Industry before moving to Telecommunications. Since then, he has held management positions with various Mobile Operators and moved to Alcatel-Lucent in 2007, joining the Pre-Sales team. Over the course of his career, Josef has developed expertise in Optical, Data, and Mobile Networking solutions for both Service Providers and Mobile Operators.

Paolo Fogliata

Paolo Fogliata is Network Architect consulting for EMEA Telecom Operators evolution strategies. Up to 2008 he was director of Optics Network Management Strategy at the Alcatel-Lucent Optics Division Labs. His 30 years of work experience have included developing equipment for packet data networks and leading the optical network management applications labs. He holds a degree in electronic engineering from Politecnico of Milan, Italy. His interests are mostly focused on multimedia multitechnology network solutions that rely on high bandwidth multi-service optical infrastructure.

Bernd Heinmüller received his degree in Electrical Engineering from FAU University in Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany in 1993 where he specialized in telecommunications. Bernd is a Product Manager of Optics Products and Solutions in IP Transport at Nokia. He has over 20 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry with particular expertise in the areas of transport networks, fiber optic transmission, electrical switching, Carrier Ethernet and wavelength division multiplexing. He has presented at trade shows, conferences and co-authored papers for the Bell Labs Technical Journal. Bernd was in charge of portfolio planning and product management for the Alcatel-Lucent SDH product family. In his current assignment, he led the specification of the next generation OTN Core Switch.

Kyle Hollasch is Director of Product Marketing for Optical Networking at Nokia where he is responsible for promoting the company's broad portfolio of packet optical transport solutions. Prior to Nokia, Kyle held roles in sales engineering and product line management at Cisco Systems, including responsibility for marketing, sales enablement and strategic customer engagements involving optical technologies across both service provider and enterprise markets. Kyle began his career as a Member of Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies, performing research involving high speed data transmission over unshielded twisted pair cabling, and leading the deployment of long haul DWDM systems. Kyle holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master of Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.

Karyn Lennon

Karyn Lennon leads the Learning Services function for Nokia’s IP/Optical Networks Business Group.  In her role, Karyn is responsible for setting the strategic direction and development of Nokia’s Optical educational services which includes the Nokia Optical Networks Certification Program.  In addition to the Optical program, Karyn directs both Nokia’s flagship IP/MPLS certification program, the Service Routing Certification (SRC) Program which has over 14,000 individuals participating globally and the Nuage Networks Virtuoso Certification Program (NN-VCP). Prior to her role in Learning Services, Karyn held various PLM and Marketing positions at Newbridge Networks and Alcatel-Lucent. Karyn received her Bachelor of Commerce from  McGill University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa.

Andreas Leven is the head of the IP and Optical Networks Research Lab of Nokia Bell Labs. With teams in the U.S.A., in France and in Germany he is responsible for the exploration of disruptive innovations that significantly improve scale, flexibility and agility of IP and optical networks. From 2013 to 2016 he was Site Leader of Bell Labs in Germany. Andreas received a Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) degree from Karlsruhe University, Germany and spent three years at the Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Solid State Physics, Freiburg, Germany before joining Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ in 2000. His early research focused on coherent optical systems. From 2008 to 2009, he was on leave with Alcatel-Lucent’s Optical Networking Division in Nuremberg, Germany, supporting 100G development activities. In 2009 he moved back to Bell Labs and is now based in Stuttgart, Germany.

LIEVEN LEVRAU received an M. Sc. degree in Applied Physics engineering (Photonics) from the University of Brussels (VUB) in 1994 and he has studied Avionics at the University of Ghent. He has participated in several European and national research projects. His current research interests are focused on design issues related to multi-layer network control architectures for core, metro and data center networks, especially in network virtualization related issues, security and multi layer optical packet and transport networks for service providers and cloud providers. In his currently role as Product Line Director within the Optical Networking Business Division, he is responsible for the Business Unit strategy covering 5G and mobile transport solution. He is an IEEE member and Alcatel-Lucent Technical Academy (ALTA08) member.

From 1988 until 1996 Rosa held different R&D positions within Alcatel in Spain. Rosa graduated from Telecommunications Superior Engineering School in “Universidad Politécnica” of Madrid in 1988.

Ömer Oskay received his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from Middle East technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey where he specialized in telecommunications. Ömer is a Senior Product Line Manager, IP Transport at NOKIA, responsible for the development of GMPLS Control Plane for different technologies (SDH, OTN, WDM) for the 1830PSS, 1626LM, 1678MCC product lines, as well responsible for the Open Node / Open Line Systems with NETCONF/YANG. Ömer is currently based in Stuttgart in Germany and has more than 20 years of experience working on the development of Optical Cross Connects for SDH and OTN, as well the WDM Photonic systems. He has taken different roles and responsibilities in the past, such as 1678MCC Development Project Leader, Cross Connect Product Line Manager and Network Management System Product Line Manager.
 
Igor Piffari

Igor Piffari is Director of Optical Multi-Service Nodes & Transport Service Switches (OMSN/TSS) Product Line, within IP/Optical Networks BG at Nokia. Based in Milan (Italy), he leads a team of PLMs across Italy and China. He has been working for more than 16 years in the Product Strategy & Management area which has defined and introduced to the market a new generation of “hybrid Packet & TDM” transport equipment, named 1850 Transport Service Switch. In 2007, the first year of operation after Alcatel & Lucent merge, he received the Bell Labs President’s Award, together with the 1850 TSS project team. He was already in the Product Management team at the early stages of development of Optical Multi-Service Nodes family, which held #1 WW market share for years and has his flagship with 1660SM product.
His career in the field of Optical Networks includes also a few years of activity at the Alcatel Technical Excellence Center for Optical Networks Management Systems. Prior to join Alcatel in 1999, he has been working for three years at Optical R&D labs of Sirti (a Telecom Italia group company, that time) to develop an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer system for fiber networks monitoring. He received his Degree in Electronic Engineering from “Politecnico di Milano” university in 1996, by presenting the results of one-year research about ultrafast mode-locked Ti:Sapphire lasers, at the Quantum Electronic and Electronic Instrumentation Centre of Italian National Research Council.

Stéphan Roullot

Stéphan Roullot is Director of Product Line Management for Packet & Synchronization in the ION Business Group, based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He holds a master degree in Electrical Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) of Lyon, France. After starting his career as R&D engineer (System Test, System Engineering & Architecture), he held several positions in technical sales, network architect and business development on a broad range of technologies: SDH MSPP, WDM, Carrier Ethernet Switch/Router (Riverstone), xDSL Broadband Access, Mobile backhaul products, before moving into Product Strategy and Product Line Management for a number of Carrier Ethernet packet optical products, including the 1830 PSS since 2011. Stéphan is MEF CECP certified and is owning the various global packet-optical and synchronization programs on the 1830 PSS platform. His functions encompass strategy, standards, feature definition, R&D management and customer pre-sales and post-sales support.
