CPD for New Lawyers: Introduction to Advocacy
Glasgow, Wednesday 7 October 2015

The Law Society of Scotland and Ampersand have developed a six part seminar programme to provide information and training for New Lawyers working in the area of litigation or who simply want to improve their legal skills. The CPD for New Lawyers programme is designed for trainees and New Lawyers up to two years PQE.

Introduction to Advocacy Skills is designed to equip New Lawyers with the fundamental skills of written and oral advocacy and together with the seminar on Sheriff Court Practice, provides a solid foundation to ensure that those first steps into the Sheriff Court are taken with confidence.

The seminar will address the key components of effective communication, case analysis and preparation, the structure of written and oral presentation, presenting motions and arguing debates.

This seminar is presented by an Ampersand Advocate.

By the end of the seminar you will:

- Understand the essential components of effective communication
- Know how to structure written and oral presentations to maximise your persuasive powers
- Have practical guidance on arguing motions and debates
