Brahm Cramer Co-Chief Investment Officer—Real Estate Group AllianceBernstein
Brahm Cramer is the Co-Chief Investment Officer of
AllianceBernstein’s Real Estate Group. Prior to joining
AllianceBernstein, Mr Cramer was a partner at Goldman Sachs and
served as the Co-Head of the firm’s Real Estate Principal Investment
Area. He co-chaired the Whitehall investment committees and also
served on Goldman Sachs’ firmwide risk committee. The Whitehall
Funds included $18bn in fund equity across more than a dozen funds with a total cost
of real estate assets under management, across more than 20 countries, in excess of
US$100bn. Other strategies included origination and acquisition of mezzanine debt,
core plus acquisitions and investment in developing markets. Mr Cramer also had
oversight for Goldman Sachs’ balance sheet real estate positions.
Having formerly served as Chief Financial Officer of the Whitehall Funds, Mr Cramer
has relationships with lenders both in the US and around the world. His experience
in real estate debt and equity acquisitions dates back to Resolution Trust
Corporation auctions in the early 1990s, and as a real estate investment banker
advising on restructuring transactions in the mid-1990s. In 1996, he relocated to
Paris and was a founding architect of Goldman Sachs’ European franchise for
acquiring distressed banks, non-performing loans and real estate that also included
the construction of one of the European market’s leading real estate asset
management platforms. Mr Cramer holds a BCom (Hons) from Queen’s University
in Ontario, Canada, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Thompson Dean is Co-Managing Partner and Co-CEO of Avista

beginning in 1995 and was Chairman of the Investment Committees of DLJMB I,
DLJMB II, DLJMB III and DLJ Growth Capital Partners through December 2007.
Mr Dean currently serves on the boards of ConvaTec, IWCO Direct Holdings,
Sidewinder Drilling, Zest Anchors, and VWR International. He formerly served as
the Chairman of the Board of Nycomed, Arcade, DeCrane Aircraft, Mueller and Von
Hoffmann. He also formerly served on the boards of American Ref-Fuel, Argyle
Television, BioPartners, Charles River Labs, Evergreen Media, Merrill, Safilo and
Visant, among others.
Mr Dean is a trustee of Choate Rosemary Hall and The Eaglebrook School. He is
Former Chairman of the Special Projects Committee of Memorial Sloan Kettering
Hospital and served as a member of the College Foundation Board of the University
of Virginia. In addition, he serves on various committees of the Boys Club of New York,
the Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association and the Museum of the City of New York.
Michael Levy Managing Director, Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing
Michael Levy is the Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief
Financial Officer for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI),
Morgan Stanley’s real estate investment management group.
MSREI pursues opportunistic and core real estate investment
strategies on a global basis on behalf of leading institutional and
individual investors. His current responsibilities include oversight
of the group’s financial, operating, regulatory and reporting activities as well as
portfolio management for MSREF VII, a global opportunistic fund. He is chairman of
MSREI’s valuation committee and a senior member of the investment and risk
committees. Mr Levy also leads the capital markets effort for the firm’s broader
merchant banking business with investment strategies across multiple sectors.
Since joining Morgan Stanley in 1998, Mr Levy has worked with the firm’s clients
across a broad range of investment, financing, advisory and capital markets
activities. Most recently he was co-head of the firm’s US real estate investment
banking practice, until 2008. Bhagesh Malde Senior Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Private Equity and Real Estate State Street
Bhagesh Malde is the global Co-Head of the private equity and real
estate fund servicing business at State Street. Both the private
equity and real estate are respectively the leading fund
administration services businesses in the world, and form part of
the Alternative Investment Solutions group at State Street.
State Street provides a world-class offering for private equity and real estate fund
sponsors and limited partners with a dedicated team of around 1,000 professionals
from locations in North America, Europe and Asia.
Mr Malde was formerly the founder and head of JP Morgan’s Hedge Fund Services
business. Previously, he worked at Citigroup where he held senior positions in
corporate and investment banking in Europe and North America. Mr Malde began his
career in 1987 at the investment bank, Samuel Montagu, which today is part of HSBC.
Paul O'Dowd U.S. Editor MandateWire
Paul O’Dowd is the US Editor of MandateWire, a position he has
held for nearly three years. In this role he oversees a team that
tracks institutional trends and introduces business leads to
investment managers. Before joining MandateWire, he was a senior
reporter for FundFire where he covered pension funds, investment
consultants, hedge funds and investment managers. Prior to that
he worked at Euromoney Institutional Investor
Alex Pigliucci Global Managing Director, Wealth and Asset Management Services Accenture
Alex Pigliucci is the Global Managing Director of Accenture Wealth
and Asset Management Services. In this role, Mr Pigliucci is
responsible for developing new products and offerings that serve
the wealth and asset management industry and defining the go-tomarket
strategy. Mr Pigliucci has extensive experience working
with investment banks, investment managers and leading global
wealth managers to develop and implement transformational programmes that
increase revenue and efficiencies.
Mr Pigliucci joined Accenture in 1995. During the past 17 years, he has held various
leadership roles within the company’s financial services practice both in the US and Europe.
