This program reviews best practices in dental local anesthesia from an evidence-based perspective. Characteristics of all injectable and topical local anesthetics are reviewed, including comparative efficacy based on randomized controlled trials. Anesthesia adjuncts (buffering, nasal administration) are also covered, and the latest science-based algorithms for obtaining profound anesthesia of all teeth for endodontic and restorative procedures will be presented.
