Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati Honors 3CDC with Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award

The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati (AFC) will honor the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) with the Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award for its leadership, advocacy and service to the community at its annual Apple Award Gala on June 5, 2014.

3CDC is a non-profit, real estate development and finance organization focused on strategically revitalizing Cincinnati in partnership with the City of Cincinnati and the corporate community.  Over the last decade, 3CDC has revitalized Cincinnati’s downtown urban core, focusing its development efforts in Over-the-Rhine and the central business district. Since completing the renovation of Fountain Square in 2006, 3CDC has transformed OTR block by block, adding residential units, improving streetscapes, and creating mixed-use development supported by local businesses. Over $717 million has been invested in redevelopment and new construction since 2004, attracting new residents, businesses and investment to Cincinnati.

The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati grants the Apple Award annually to an individual or entity that exemplifies the foundation’s mission to increase and encourage improvement of the built environment of Greater Cincinnati.

The gala event, which will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Hilton Hall of Mirrors in downtown Cincinnati, raises funds to support the educational programs offered by AFC year round, including Architecture by Children, a school based program serving approximately 1,300 students annually.

Since 1982, AFC has enriched the Greater Cincinnati community by connecting people with the places they live, learn, work and play. Through programming and educational outreach, AFC inspires public engagement in shaping the built environment.
