ANSWER ALS
We are excited to have the American Airlines Charity Golf event support a new charity that will benefit research towards finding a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, most commonly known as ALS.
ALS,
sometimes called Lou Gehrig's disease, is a rapidly progressive, invariably
fatal neurological disease that attacks the body's nerve cells (or
"neurons"), which are responsible for controlling voluntary muscle
movement - that includes moving the arms, legs, face and more. The disease
belongs to a group of disorders known as motor neuron diseases, which
are characterized by the gradual degeneration and death of motor neurons. ALS is classified as a rare disease, but is
the most common motor neuron disease, which affects people of all races and
ethnicities equally.
Similar to American’s support of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) through our Celebrity Ski event, we believe there is a real opportunity to bring attention to orphan diseases like ALS that require additional awareness and fundraising support in order to bring them to an end. This will also complement our recently announced multi-year financial commitment of $1 million to the Answer ALS research project.
Thank you in advance for your support.
