Transmission, Distribution and Utilities: The Infrastructure for the Sustainable Smart Grid
The 2013 OSIsoft Users Conference will focus on Thriving in a World of Change. The utility business has certainly seen its share of disruptive change over the past few years. Our business is becoming more complex and the efforts to keep it running affect all levels of grid operations. There are increased reliability concerns due to additions of large-scale renewable energy sources, customer-owned distributed generation, and new stresses on an aging infrastructure. Utilities require much more insight into cause and effect across the grid, from generation sources down to the customer’s changing habits.
This year our Day Zero Event will look at the work of industry leading utilities who are grappling with integration of vast amounts of data across the network and creative ways they’re applying data to Thrive in a World of Change.
Among the topics being presented are:
- Improving grid operations, and reliability and security
- Monitoring grid stability using synchrophasor data
- Increasing focus on the substation for asset life, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Incorporating AMI data into overall operational awareness
- Enhancing visibility through the integration of Big Data from across the enterprise
Please join us for what will certainly be a great exchange of ideas. The 2013 Day Zero Event will provide an excellent beginning and food-for-thought as you engage with PI users throughout the week.
