To assist you with maximizing your experience at the National Summit, we have assembled a list of optional activities. The weather in Phoenix is typically nice, but it can also be a bit chilly, so please remember to bring a light jacket or sweater. February in Phoenix is considered “high season,” therefore it will benefit you to plan in advance for any activities you wish to include in your itinerary.
We are pleased to offer assistance with planning an activity for you and/or your guests for the Thursday, February 2, afternoon free time. If you would like to take advantage of this special service, please take a moment to indicate your preferences using the Optional Activities Preferences form. GOLF
J.W. Marriott Wildfire Golf Club l Faldo Championship Course l $139 per person (payable day of play)

J.W. Marriott Wildfire Golf Club touts two picturesque 18-hole courses, situated in the rugged Sonoran Desert, each with its own distinct personality, designed by two of golf’s greatest legends—Arnold Palmer and Nick Faldo.
The Palmer Signature Course offers scenic and expansive fairways allowing the ball to remain in play even on an errant shot. The Faldo Championship Course features generous fairways, large bent grass greens and tee boxes. Surrounding both courses are the majestic McDowell Mountains and century-old saguaro cacti, providing a spectacular setting for golfers.
The Faldo Championship Course, which plays up to 6,846 yards, sits on a 174-acre site and offers a slight variation from the typical desert-theme courses. It features generous fairways, large greens and tee boxes. The surrounding mountains and century-old saguaro cacti as well as 108 sand bunkers, reminiscent of the Australian sand belt courses, provide a spectacular setting.
In addition, Wildfire Golf Club features a complete practice facility, including an all-grass driving range, putting and chipping greens, a green-side practice bunker and state-of-the-art Global Positioning System (GPS) in each golf car.

We have scheduled tee times beginning at 12:57 p.m. on Thursday afternoon on the Faldo Course. Cost per person is $139. Golf clubs are available for rent and includes two sleeves of golf balls

The Greatest Show on Grass, a.k.a. the Waste Management Phoenix Open, returns to the TPC Scottsdale, January 30 through February 5, 2012. The Waste Management Phoenix Open, annually sporting the largest crowds on the PGA Tour, has gained legendary status for being unlike any other golf tournament.
It starts with unbelievable golf played by the likes of Kenny Perry, JB Holmes,
Aaron Baddeley, Phil Mickelson, and Vijay Singh on the beautiful TPC Scottsdale
and ends with the biggest galleries on Tour.
While the
actual Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament will be played
Thursday—Sunday (February 2-5), there will still be plenty of things to see and
do at the TPC Scottsdale all week long. Many of the PGA TOUR pros will play
morning practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday of tournament week. There are
also other special activities that will feature PGA TOUR professionals,
including the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Family Foundation Dream Day and the CBS Outdoor
Special Olympics Open on Tuesday and the ever-popular Silver Pro-Am on
Wednesday.
On Saturday, February 4, the tournament is inviting everyone to participate in the second annual GREEN OUT. For every person who wears green on Saturday, February 4, the tournament host will donate ‘green’ to Arizona Clean & Beautiful—a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to preserving, maintaining and enhancing the beauty and environmental quality of Arizona. HIKING

Piestewa Peak (Squaw Peak): The 2,608 foot Piestewa Peak is one of the most popular hiking venues, where over a half a million people hike its Summit Trail every year. The elevation of Piestewa is the second highest peak in Phoenix. The lower portions of the trail are easy to moderate. The upper portions become steeper and much more difficult. It is 1.2 miles to the summit with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet.
McDowell Mountain: Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve is like no other place in the Valley. It is home to stunning geography, lush cacti forests, and diverse wildlife. It features award-winning trails and facilities. The Preserve, stretches across 17,000 scenic acres of Scottsdale. The Preserve encompasses the McDowell Mountains, where recent discoveries are causing geologists to rethink how this region formed and evolved. HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE
