Dr Paul Reiter - Strategic Counsel of International Water Association

Paul Reiter is the Strategic Counsel of the International Water Association – an organization that serves as the global network for water professional with approximately 10,000 members in 120 countries. He is a leading figure in international and regional water issues with nearly 30 years experience in utility project innovation and utility management in the areas of water, electricity and solid waste. Through this period he has worked as a utility leader, private consultant and as an association director.
Paul’s experience in water has focused on sustainable urban water management including water resources optimization for human and environmental needs, water efficiency and reuse, urban drainage, and waters sensitive urban design. On the management side, Paul has been a leader in change-focused utility management and leadership, including the pioneering of innovative procurement methods for large scale capital projects in the U.S. Paul has co-authored two books, contributed many articles, and speaks throughout the world on the leading challenges facing the water sector including climate change adaptation and innovation in delivery of international support to water-related development assistance.
Mr Gabriel D'Arcy - CEO, Bord na Mona

Gabriel D’Arcy was appointed as Managing Director of Bord na Móna in February 2008. Prior to joining Bord na Móna, he held a number of management positions in the Kerry Group plc..
He previously served as a Captain in the Defences Forces. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) from University College Galway, an MSc from University College Dublin, an M.B.A. from Kingston University Business School, an Advanced Diploma in Management Practice from University of Ulster and an Institute of Directors’ Diploma in Company Direction. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the Board of the Institute of Public Administration.
Prof Gustaf Olsson - IEA Institute, Lund University

Gustaf Olsson is professor in Industrial automation and since 2006 professor emeritus at Lund University, Sweden. He has devoted his research to control and automation in water systems, electrical power systems and industrial processes. His research has lately been focused on the water-energy nexus.
After his retirement he has shared his time as Guest Professor at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, Technical University of Malaysia (UTM) and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He is honorary faculty member of the Exeter University in UK. He has authored 8 books in English - some of them published also in Russian, German and Chinese - and contributed with chapters in another 16 books as well as about 140+ scientific publications. His most recent book called “Water and Energy – Threats and Opportunities” (IWA Publications) was released in June 2012.
Gustaf has served in various positions within IWA, the International Water Association, including the IWA Board of Directors and editor-in-chief of the journal Water Science and Technology.
Gustaf has guided 23 PhDs and a few hundred MSc students to their exams. The Lund University engineering students have elected him as the “teacher of the year”. In 2010 he received the IWA Publication Award and in 2012 he has been awarded Honorary Doctor at the Technical University of Malaysia (UTM). He was the 2012 awardee of the IWA Honorary Membership.
Prof Bruce Beck - Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia, USA

Bruce Beck is Professor and Eminent Scholar in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia, where he holds the Wheatley-Georgia Research Alliance Endowed Chair in Water Quality and Environmental Systems. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. He has been a Visiting Scientist (1990-94) at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a Visiting Scholar at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge (1998), and an Institute Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Laxenburg, Austria (2006-2009). His publications include the book Environmental Foresight and Models: A Manifesto (2002) and the 2011 Sustainability Concepts Paper Cities as Forces for Good in the Environment. Bruce has led the Sustainability initiative of the International Water Association (IWA) since its inception in 2001. He founded the International Network “Cities as Forces for Good in the Environment” in 2006. He has been a contributing speaker at the US East Coast Senior Executive Seminar of the Prince of Wales’s Business & the Environment Programme. In 2008 he joined the Advisory Board of Avenir Global Investment Advisors (Switzerland). He is currently a consultant to the Dianchi-Kunming (China) project of the World Bank and to the Asian Development Bank, Asia-Pacific Centre for Water Security, Tsinghua University, Beijing.
