About The Green Way

The Green Way is a Cleantech cluster organisation in Dublin. It was founded in 2010 when a number of key regional stakeholders decided to collaborate in order to encourage green economic growth through the stimulation of the Cleantech sector in Dublin. The term Cleantech encompasses all industries and companies which are involved in sustainable development, eco-innovation (products, services, processes) and resource efficiency.

Cluster Profile

The Green Way is a collaborative ‘triple helix’ cluster established by industry, academic institutions and public/semi-state players in the Dublin region, with a vision to create jobs and unlock trade opportunities, through activation and development of an internationally recognised Cleantech cluster.

Our mission is firstly, to support existing green economy companies and eco-innovation in the region, secondly, to foster and accelerate new job creation in green economy start-ups and thirdly, to facilitate multinational corporations capable of bringing transformative green economy jobs and investment to the region.

Strategic Vision

The Green Way aims to support the transformation of the Irish economy into a sustainable green economy. Within The Green Way, Irish Cleantech companies will benefit from access to University Cleantech R&D capabilities as well as a rapidly growing Cleantech customer base. Simultaneously, The Green Way cluster, through its collaborative approach to municipal waste, water, transport, energy and data assets under the control of the Local Authority members of the cluster will attract innovative Cleantech inward investment projects seeking a large scale ‘deployment platform’ in Europe

The founding partners are focussed on:

  • Using The Green Way initiative to drive international linkages and collaboration
  • Ensuring community involvement in and collaboration with The Green Way initiative
  • Marketing The Green Way as a collaborative ‘Test Bedding’ opportunity for National/EU funded/Corporate Cleantech programmes
  • Positioning sustainable economic development and new economy employment at the heart of The Green Way operating model
  • Developing joined-up sustainability & energy efficiency strategies for The Green Way partners
  • Leveraging The Green Way partners capabilities and assets to improve regional innovation systems and RD&I efforts within Dublin City University and Dublin Institute of Technology
  • Improving and transforming operational efficiency across the cluster partners through collaboration in areas such as procurement, energy management, transport, education and R&D
  • Securing an international competitive advantage for Dublin and Ireland via The Green Way initiative
