Nancy Albert PhD, CCNS, CHFN, CCR Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Research and Innovation, for Cleveland Clinic Health System and Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Heart and Vascular Institute’s Kaufman Center for Heart Failure Cleveland Clinic As Senior Director of the Office of Research and Innovation, Dr. Albert oversees and provides services throughout the Northeast Ohio Cleveland Clinic healthcare system, conducts her own program of research and mentors nurses in research and evidence-based practice. Her programs of research currently focus on two themes: (1) understanding bio-behavioral issues that impact self-care adherence and clinical outcomes of patients with heart failure and (2) improving conformity to recommended heart failure care advocated in national guidelines. Nancy is also an external consultant and educator to nurses and healthcare teams wishing to promote evidence-based nursing practices and nursing research.
Clinically, Dr. Albert is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in a disease management clinic for patients with advanced heart failure. She is a clinical educator and consultant to Master’s, Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Ph.D students and hospital and ambulatory nurses regarding heart failure, cardiac or intensive care topics. She is widely published in medical and nursing journals and has presented regionally, nationally and internationally. Dr Albert is actively involved on steering committees, work groups and task forces of many healthcare related organizations that are focused on improving quality of care and clinical outcomes of patients. She is a past-chair member of the Complex Cardiovascular Patient and Family Care Committee of the American Heart Association (sponsored by the Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing Council), member of the Heart Failure Society of America’s Guidelines/Clinical Positions Committee, the American College of Cardiology’s Task Force on Practice Guidelines and the American Heart Association’s Guideline Advantage Steering Committee to name a few.
In September 2000, Dr. Albert was awarded “Nurse of
the Year” for the Greater Cleveland Center for Health Affairs. In October 2006,
she received the “Partners in Research” award from the Center for Hospice,
Palliative Care & End of Life Studies from the University of South Florida.
In March 2007, she received the 1st annual “Researcher of the Year”
award from the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists. In September
2007, Dr Albert was one of 5 recipients of the Nurse Investigator Award from
the Heart Failure Society of America and in November 2009, Nancy was designated
an Inaugural Fellow of the American Heart Association affiliated with the
Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research. Nancy was named the
Distinguished Research Lecturer for 2013 by the American Association of
Critical-care Nurses and will speak at the 2013 annual meeting.

Orlando Alverez Senior VP, Strategy and Business Development Sisters of Charity Orlando L. Alvarez Jr. is senior vice president of strategy and business development at the Sisters of Charity Health System and CEO of Independent Physician Solutions. Previously, Mr. Alvarez was regional vice president of business development for Vanguard Health System; executive leader of business development for Abrazo Health Care; and vice president of marketing and development for Mercy Health System in Coconut Grove, Florida. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Society of Healthcare Strategy and Market Development. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in health care, Orlando began his career managing large staff model medical centers in South Florida. He has been in leadership roles in various MSOs, PHOs and IPAs across the country. He has managed multiple physician practices throughout the US and has provided strategic leadership and direction in the development and execution of numerous revenue and market share growth strategies for multiple physician enterprises.

Margie Amato Director, Business Office and Coding Network MedAxiom Margie Amato, MBA, RHIA, ACS-CA, has worked in health care administration for over 25 years. In her role as Director of MedAxiom’s Business Office Coding Network (BOCN) Margie helps member practices improve the profitability and effectiveness of the complete billing process. This is accomplished through extensive educational coding programs, networking and by utilizing a management system of key indicators to measure and benchmark each step of the billing process.
Her health care experience varies from coding and quality/utilization management to oncology service-line management. The most recent years have been devoted to cardiology practice management. Before coming to MedAxiom, Margie served as Practice Administrator for Utah Heart Clinic for 10 years and then served as the Director of Physician Services for a Salt Lake City hospital where she started and managed a cardiology practice, a neurosurgery practice, and a hospitalist program.
Margie holds a Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management from the College of Saint Mary and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. Margie maintains credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator and an Advanced Coding Specialist in Cardiology.
Margie currently serves on the Board of Medical Specialty Coding where she writes and updates test questions for the ACS-CA and SCP-CA Cardiology coding exams. She recently served on the Utah Health Information Management Association Board as the Director of Alternate Care. Margie also served in the Presidency of the Utah MGMA Board of Directors for 7 years.

Cathleen Biga President & CEO Cardiovascular Management of Illinois Cathleen Biga is President and CEO of Cardiovascular Management of Illinois. She has over 30 years experience in health care, including positions as hospital CEO, VPof patient Care services and has been active in practice management for the last 15 years. She has recently completed three integrations for her current groups – successfully transitioning 46 cardiologists. CMI now offers management, billing, and EHR support for the integrated groups. Cathleen serves as the Executive Director of Adventist Heart and Vascular Institute and is instrumental in the development and growth of the CV Service Line for the organization. She has been active nationally with consulting and lecturing on physician/hospital integration, development and formation of CV SL, quality initiatives, development of Clinical co management agreements, designing balanced quality score cards, and advocacy issues. She serves on the advisory board of Medaxiom, is Past-President of CSCA, past-president of Cardiology Advocacy alliance, an active member of numerous ACC committees and workgroups and is on the Illinois Board of Councilors of ACC. She serves on multiple Boards and remains active in her community. With her background in hospital administration she is able to bring a unique perspective to practice management in these complex times.

Dr. William A.
Blincoe earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in
Chicago, Illinois. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas
and completed his residency in cardiology at the University of Texas Health
Science Center in San Antonio, Texas and the Emory University School of
Medicine, where he also completed his cardiology fellowship. Dr. Blincoe currently serves as the chairman of the Piedmont Healthcare Board of Directors and was the former chairman of the Board for Piedmont Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology and specializes in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease. | |
Dr Charles Brown Chief of Cardiovacular Services FACC, FSCAI Piedmont Heart Institute Dr. Charles L. Brown earned his undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internship, residency and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology with Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. During his cardiovascular disease fellowship, he served as chief resident of medicine and he fulfilled an additional fellowship in peripheral angioplasty at the Red Cross Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany.
Dr. Brown is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, internal medicine, and interventional cardiology. He is also a member of numerous professional societies, including Alpha Omega Alpha, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, the Medical Association of Atlanta and the Medical Association of Georgia.

Denise Brown VP – Business Intelligence Solutions & Senior Consultant MedAxiom Consulting Denise Brown is the Vice-President of MedAxiom Consulting. As a health care executive with over 25 years of experience in hospital system and private practice healthcare operations, operational efficiency, physician recruitment, business development, marketing, and facilities planning; she recently achieved her Green Belt in Lean Sigma from the Johns Hopkins, Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care.
Prior to her current position she was Chief Operating Officer at West Michigan Heart in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ms. Brown also served as Director of Business Development for Wisconsin Heart and Vascular Clinics, owners of the Wisconsin Heart Hospital. Dr. Thomas Deering,
F.A.C.C, F.A.C.P., F.H.R.S. is a graduate of Yale University School of
Medicine. He is board-certified in
internal medicine, cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a practicing cardiologist in the
Piedmont Heart Institute (PHI) where he serves as Chief of the Arrhythmia
Center of Excellence, as Chief of the PHI Clinical Centers of Excellence and as
the Mark E. Silverman Educational Chair.
He has authored a number of manuscripts and has presented at many major
regional, national and international medical educational symposia. Dr. Deering is very active in the Heart
Rhythm Society, where he serves presently on the board of trustees, and has
been active in the American College of Cardiology. He is a participant in a number of
committees, task forces and educational programs for both organizations. He has previously served as a member of the
NCDR Research and Publication Committee and is presently a member of the NCDR
ICD Steering Committee. His work in these organizations and at Piedmont Heart

Jennie Dulac BSN, MS Vice President, Clinical Quality Improvement Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System Jennie
Dulac is the Vice President of Clinical Quality Improvement at Sisters of
Charity of Leavenworth Health System in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Dulac has more than 35 years of clinical
leadership experience with healthcare providers, researchers, and payers. Jennie has specialized in quality management,
strategy, operations, and clinical decision support for the last 18 years, with
an emphasis on implementation. Her
expertise includes clinical effectiveness, outcomes management and quality
improvement. During this time she has
served in a variety of health care settings including multi-hospital systems,
academic medical centers, INDS’s, health networks, and managed care. Most recently, she served as Vice President
of Quality Management at Universal Health Services, Inc. in King of Prussia,
Pa. Throughout her career she has developed quality and safety programs that have earned organizations Top Healthgrades, Top 100 Hospital, and Top 10 Health System designations. In addition, she has led clinical collaboratives for over 250 hospitals to date. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in nursing from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and a master's degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H.

Darryl Elmouchi MD, FHRS Medical Director Cardiac Electrophysiology Spectrum Health Dr. Elmouchi is the Medical Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Frederik Meijer Heart & Vascular Institute, Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also has an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He began his medical training at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Dr. Elmouchi then performed his internship, residency and chief residency at UCSF. He returned to Ann Arbor to pursue a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan. He spent a year as chief cardiology fellow before completing his cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Michigan under Dr. Fred Morady. He moved to Grand Rapids after his fellowship and has helped develop one of the largest and most productive EP programs in the United States. He is also actively involved in research, most recently in the acute management of patients presenting to the emergency department with atrial fibrillation. He has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Elmouchi is married with three children and hopes to run his first marathon this year. | |

Jerome Hines MD, PhD, FACC, FSCAI Interventional Cardiologist Illinois Heart and Vascular
Dr. Jerome Hines has practiced
Cardiology in the western suburbs of Chicago for the past 25 years as part of
Illinois Heart and Vascular. Dr. Hines
is native to Chicago, and following an undergraduate degree at Harvard completed a PhD in Biochemistry at the U. of
Chicago and an MD at Northwestern. He
completed both an Internship and Residency at Northwestern prior to completing
fellowships in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at
Loyola.
Dr. Hines joined Illinois Heart and
Vascular, a growing and dynamic private practice, in 1988. Dr. Hines was
president of the group from 1998 until 2012 and helped the group grow to 27
cardiologists. He was instrumental in positioning the group as a local leader in
both Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular CT. He was integral to the
successful integration of the group with two different health systems in 2010.
Dr. Hines served as the Illinois Governor for
the ACC from 2009-2012 and is currently the Chair of the Council on Clinical
Practice for the ACC. He serves on the Workforce Taskforce for the ACC.

Suzette Jaskie President & CEO MedAxiom Consulting Suzette Jaskie is President of MedAxiom Consulting and the Executive Vice-President of MedAxiom. Ms. Jaskie was the CEO of West Michigan Heart and Wisconsin Heart and Vascular in Milwaukee, WI prior to her current position. She also previously served as the Executive Director of the Frederick Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute, for Spectrum Health System in Grand Rapids, MI, that governs and manages the cardiovascular service line for the regional health system. Ms. Jaskie has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hartford and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin.
Ms. Jaskie is a former President of Medical Group Management Association's cardiovascular assembly (CSCA) and is currently a serving on the American College of Cardiology's Practice Management Council. Ms. Jaskie is a faculty member of the American College of Cardiology Advanced Leadership Institute and a former board member of the Cardiovascular Advocacy Alliance. Catherine Krawczeski MD Director, Quality Improvement and Clinical Effectiveness. Co-Director, Center for Acute Care Nephrology Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Catherine Krawczeski MD is an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and is clinical faculty in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). She is the director of Quality Improvement and Clinical Effectiveness for the Heart Institute. Dr. Krawczeski received her medical degree from the University of Missouri and completed pediatric residency at Washington University/St. Louis Children’s Hospital and fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine at the same institution. She is board certified in both specialties. Dr. Krawczeski focuses her research on clinical outcomes after pediatric cardiac surgery. She has a particular interest in the effects of cardiopulmonary bypass on the kidney, focusing on biomarker technology for the early diagnosis and treatment of kidney injury. Dr. Krawczeski also has a strong interest in Quality Improvement and has been instrumental in developing a quality improvement program for cardiovascular disease at CCHMC and in creating Heart Institute “dashboards” to track outcomes and determine strategic improvement priorities. She manages a large portfolio of improvement initiatives in the Heart Institute, working to improve health care delivery and patient outcomes. | |
Jim Landman J.D., Ph.D. VP Healthcare Financial Management Association James Landman, J.D., Ph.D., is director of thought leadership initiatives for the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Jim is responsible for leading HFMA’s thought leadership efforts, which have covered value creation, payment reform, accounting and financial reporting, capital access, revenue cycle management, and many other areas that drive healthcare organizational high performance. Results of these initiatives are used by hospitals, rating agencies, regulatory agencies, congressional committees, accounting standard setting bodies, state hospital organizations, and other government and industry leaders. Jim started at HFMA in 2008 as speechwriter and communications manager for the Association. Prior to his work at HFMA, Landman served as associate director in the American Bar Association’s Division for Public Education. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant professor in the English Department at the University of North Texas and an associate attorney at the Faegre & Benson law firm in Minneapolis (now Faegre Baker Daniels LLP). Phil Levy MD, MPH, FACEP Associate Director of Clinical Research Wayne State University – Department of Emergency Medicine Phillip D. Levy, M.D., M.P.H. is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Associate Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, an investigator for the American Heart Association’s National Registry of CPR and serves on the steering committee of several cardiovascular research groups including the Emergency Medicine Cardiac Research and Education Group (EMCREG), the Emergency Management and Research Group in Acute Heart Failure (EMERG-HF) and Wayne State University’s Division of Translational Research and Clinical Epidemiology (TRaCE). He is a member of the Grant Review Panel for the National Institutes of Health Clinical and Integrative Cardiovascular Science (CICS) Study Section, the Grants Advisory Panel for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and the Scientific Review Committee for the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has also served on the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute’s Working Group on Management of Acute Heart Failure in the Emergency Department: Research Challenges and was as a member of the American Heart Association Scientific Statement Writing Group on Acute Heart Failure Syndromes - Emergency Department Presentation, Treatment and Disposition.
Dr. Levy has been the Principal Investigator for grant projects funded by the Emergency Medicine Foundation, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Physician Faculty Scholars Program, and the NIH/National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (1R01 MD005849-01A1). He has also served as the project mentor for a grant funded by the Fulbright Program for Scholars and Professionals from the Caribbean and Central America. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Levy has presented more than 60 abstracts at national and international venues, published 45 manuscripts, written 12 textbook chapters and been an invited lecturer more than 100 times. In addition, he has mentored countless medical students, resident physicians and junior faculty members at Wayne State University and beyond.

Katie Lund RN, CCRN, MBA Senior Director of Clinical Integration Piedmont Heart
Katie
Lund currently serves as the Senior Director for Clinical Integration at
Piedmont Heart in Atlanta, GA. She directs the planning, development and execution of
long-range performance improvement projects that focus on the standardization
and integration of clinical care throughout the cardiovascular care continuum. Katie
is a native of Georgia and has been with Piedmont Healthcare for just under 10
years. Since joining Piedmont Healthcare, Katie has served in several
clinical leadership positions including nursing management within the
cardiovascular ICU setting. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and
a Masters in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. | |
Mark McDonald Assistant Vice President, Heart Institute The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center The Heart Institute AVP role is responsible for the integration of the clinical and research missions of the Heart Institute, strategic planning and daily operational business management. Mark McDonald received an MA from the University of Cincinnati. Subsequently, he held positions with Kaiser Permanente as manager, Management Engineering, the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati as the vice president for Cardiovascular Services, and the Ohio Heart and Vascular Center as the chief operating officer prior to joining the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s. | |
Dr. William Nelson PhD, FACC Department Head Cardiovascular Services HPMG, Section Head and Medical Director, Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Minnesota Regions Hospital Heart Center Dr. Nelson serves as the Department Head of Cardiovascular Services for HealthPartners and Section Head and Medical Director of the Regions Hospital Heart Center. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Nelson completed his PhD in physiology, as well as medical school at the University of Minnesota. His cardiology fellowship was completed at the University of Wisconsin. John Rebok Vice President, Physician Services - Central/West Texas Division HCA Healthcare/St. David’s Partnership John C. Rebok received his Bachelor of Science from Norwich University, The Military College of Vermont and went on to serve six years in the U.S. Army as an Armor Officer and achieved the rank of Captain. He served as Scout Platoon Leader during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After leaving the Army, John received his Master of Health Services Management from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. John is currently Vice President of Physician Operations with the St. David’s Healthcare System in Austin, Texas. Norman Risinger MD Regional Director Austin Heart Hospital, HCA Norman Risinger, MD is originally from Madisonville, Texas and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. He then completed his fellowship in cardiology at the New York University Medical Center in New York, NY. Dr. Risinger’s areas of special interest include congenital heart disease in adults, lipid management, and pre-operative evaluations. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified in the subspecialty of Cardiovascular disease. Dr. Risinger is a Regional Director at Austin Heart overseeing multiple offices within the practice. Josh Roberts MD Senior Director of Integration and Transformation Piedmont Healthcare Corporation Mr. Roberts currently serves as the Senior Director of Integration and Transformation with a focus on Piedmont Heart; a division of Piedmont Healthcare Corporation based in Atlanta, GA. Heart Institute and Heart Hospital. He
joined the Nebraska Heart team in 2011 and is the senior executive for Nebraska
Heart. In this leadership role he has
overall strategic and functional responsibility for all hospital and clinic
services, including cardiovascular service line administration at all CHI
Nebraska facilities and practice administration at NHI’s six clinic locations
in Lincoln, Columbus, Hastings, Grand Island and North Platte, as well as the
40 communities where NHI provides outreach clinic and mobile diagnostic
services.
Michael has worked for Catholic Health Initiatives,
the parent organization of Nebraska Heart, and its organizations since 2001 and
has over twenty years of experience in health care operations. Prior to his
appointment as chief administrative officer of Nebraska Heart, Michael served
as the national director of corporate responsibility resources for Catholic
Health Initiatives in Denver, Colorado. Michael earned a Master of Science
degree in health care administration, received a Graduate Certificate in health
care compliance from The George Washington University, and is currently
pursuing a doctoral degree in health policy and management. He is certified in
health care compliance and a certified professional in health care risk
management. He is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association, the
American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Cardiology
Practice Administrators.

Joel Sauer VP - Consulting MedAxiom Consulting For over 14 years, Joel Sauer was Chief Executive Officer of a large Midwestern multi-specialty physician group. Through his leadership, the group expanded from a single specialty practice of 15, to over 225 physicians with over 600 employees in nearly every medical specialty.
In 2009, Joel orchestrated the acquisition of his own group by a large health system and then acquiring other practices to create an accountable care network. Beyond engineering the transaction details, Joel provided the leadership behind the operational and cultural integration of the merged entities. Beginning in 2001, Joel led his group's conversion from a paper chart to a full electronic health record. Given the complexity of the process, both from an operational and cultural standpoint, Joel considers this one of his greatest accomplishments. Joel headed up two significant site development projects for the group including the construction of an attached, two operating room, ambulatory surgery center and a significant expansion and renovation of the group's previous building. Other relevant experiences Joel brings to the table include: strategic planning, joint venture formation, hospital/health system relations, financial analysis, payor contract negotiations, implementing operational efficiencies, and ancillary services creation.
Prior to his tour as CEO, Joel worked for a large hospital, managed an outpatient ancillary services business, and worked for a healthcare software developer in implementation and support.

Sharon Van Beek BSN, CCDS Manager of Electrophysiology Spectrum Health Sharon Van Beek, BSN, CCDS, is the manager of Electrophysiology (EP) for Spectrum Health coordinating care delivered for both office and hospital settings. Prior to this role, Ms. Van Beek spent 4 years as Clinical Manager of EP for West Michigan Heart. Ms. Van Beek earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Grand Valley State College and a Certification in Cardiac Device Specialty from Heart Rhythm Society. In her 13 years of EP experience, she served as process owner for two formal Lean Events : Device Clinic and the other on EP RN overtime and workflow. She remains committed to continuous improvement and seeking high quality, value, and efficient care. Another passion of Ms. Van Beek’s is increasing community awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and the need for AEDs and CPR training through community education events reaching across the state of Michigan. Ms Van Beek has lead several workshops on Reinventing the Follow Up for Device management and spoken nationally on Lead Management and Extraction processes.

Penny Wheeler MD Chief Clinical Officer Allina Health Dr. Wheeler is chief clinical officer for Allina Hospitals & Clinics and is a member of the Allina's Executive Leadership Team. Prior to assuming the chief clinical officer role in June 2006, she served on the Allina Board of Directors, where she led the Quality Committee. Dr. Wheeler also has served as president of Abbott Northwestern Hospital's medical staff, as chairperson and vice-chairperson of the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department and on numerous committees. She has been selected to participate in a national leadership program to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health care.
