Edinburgh is well connected to all parts of the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's largest airport and sixth busiest in the UK with passenger numbers in excess of 9 million, flights to over 125 destinations and operated by 40 airlines. Direct flights to 76 international destinations include Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Geneva, many destinations in Spain and long haul to New York as well as an average of 46 daily flights to London. The airport is only 12 km from the city centre, with excellent bus and taxi connections.

City centre train stations are Edinburgh Waverley and Edinburgh Haymarket which are linked to allthe major cities and airports in Britain, with a high speed link to London in just over four hours.

Waverley Station is Scotland‟s second busiest station and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to renew the glass roof, improve access and enhance the main concourse area. Haymarket, Scotland's fourth busiest station, is being expanded to ten times the current size to deal with demand and to turn it into a fully accessible, modern, transport interchange facility while maintaining the A-listed original station building.

Motorways and a network of major roads provide easy access to the city, often through spectacular scenery. The modern coach centre at St Andrew Square offers direct connections to all major cities in Britain.
