Open mHealth Stakeholders Meeting

Join the discussion on future policy actions at a mHealth stakeholder meeting organised by the European Commission!

Tuesday, 12 May | 13:30 - 15:30

With the active participation of all interested stakeholders, the meeting will address ongoing and potential future policy actions in the field of mHealth. The discussion will build on the results of the public consultation on the Green Paper on mobile health, but the direction of the discussion will also depend on the outcome of an ad-hoc consultation through an interactive dialogue with stakeholders, including via an on-site voting system.

The meeting will focus in particular on these topics:
- Privacy and security
- Safety and transparency
- Web entrepreneurs' access to the market

According to the results of the public consultation, strong privacy and security tools are essential to help mHealth flourish in Europe. The results also show that ensuring patient safety as well as quality and transparency of information are important requirements. Access to knowledge and a clear regulatory framework are needed to facilitate the entry of web entrepreneurs to the market.
Amongst others, initiatives on privacy and security will be presented at the meeting. Furthermore, the safety and quality of mHealth apps will be discussed, and how to best address these issues. Finally, the barriers that web entrepreneurs are facing in accessing the market will be discussed.

Facilitators:
- Pēteris Zilgalvis, Head of Health and Well-Being Unit, DG CONNECT
- Claudia Prettner, Policy Officer in the Health and Well-being Unit, DG CONNECT

This event is open to all the eHealth Week participants.
