Entry rules

1. Inclusion:

  • Only funds with their management/advisory company or team based in US or Canada will be eligible for the HFMWeek US Hedge Fund Performance Awards 2014.
  • The Entry Form will be sent to all managers and contacts on the HFMWeek database. Other interested managers can access the online entry form.
  • Funds interested in participating in the awards program must submit all information via the official HFMWeek US Performance Awards 2014 Online Entry Form. Please note that all funds must submit a completed entry form to be considered for the awards; incomplete information might lead to disqualification from the awards process. All entry forms should be submitted by Thursday September 11, 2014.

The awards will be publicized internationally in the general and hedge fund media. All awards finalists will be honored — and the winners announced at a dinner on Monday October 23 at Cipriani 42nd St, NYC.

All winners will also be invited to be interviewed by HFMWeek. 

The deadline for inclusion is Thursday September 11, 2014.

2. Criteria:

The Awards 2014 seek submissions in 42 categories. A full list of categories is displayed here.

Any fund satisfying the following criteria will be eligible for the HFMWeek US Hedge Fund Performance Awards 2014:

Base of operations:

  • Funds submitting in all categories must have their management/advisory company or team based in US or Canada and submit their USD share class.

Strategy:

  • Funds submitting for any of the categories with the exception of newcomers, best seeding fund and best 40 act fund must trade/invest primarily - defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last three years—in one or more of the 38 strategies described by the categories above.
  • Funds submitting for the newcomer categories must trade/invest primarily—defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last 12-35 months—in one of the 34 strategies as described by the categories above.
  • Funds submitting for best seeding fund and best 40 act fund must trade/invest primarily—defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last 12 months—in one of the 34 strategies as described by the categories above.

Assets Under Management:

  • Funds submitting for all categories (apart from newcomer and funds of hedge funds categories) must have a minimum of 25 million (USD) in assets under management ending June 2014.
  • Funds submitting for newcomer categories must have a minimum of 10 million (USD) in assets under management ending June 2014.
  • Funds submitting for funds of hedge funds categories must have a minimum of 50 million (USD) in assets under management ending June 2014.

 Please submit the USD share class for the awards.

 Track Record:

  • Funds submitting for any of the categories except newcomers, best seeding fund and best 40 act fund must have a track record of 3 years ending with their June 2014 performance figures. (Please supply all performance figures dating back to the fund’s inception date)
  • Funds submitting for newcomer categories must have a track record of at least 12 months and less than 36 months—that is, 12 to 35 months of performance data ending with their June 2014 performance. (Please supply all performance figures dating back to the fund’s inception date)
  • Funds submitting for best seeding fund and best 40 act fund must have a track record of at least 12 months of performance data ending with their June 2014 performance. (Please supply all performance figures dating back to the fund’s inception date)
  • Funds submitting for long term performance – 5 years must have a track record of 5 years ending with their June 2014 performance figures. (Please supply all performance figures dating back to the fund’s inception date)

3. Judging Decisions:

The judging panel will comprise representatives from HFMWeek, leading institutional and private investors and industry experts.

Each member of the judging panel will have an equal vote in choosing the winners in each category. Decisions should be unanimous, but a majority will suffice. 

Judging decisions will be based on performance, qualitative information and structural criteria.

Judging process

  • A list of judges will be displayed on the 2014 Awards website and promoted to the HFMWeek database prior to the judging taking place, along with confirmation of the date(s) when the judging will take place

  • All judges will comply with a confidentiality agreement to ensure no information is disclosed or discussed outside of the judging process. 

A shortlist of finalists for each category will be announced in September with the winners revealed on October 23 at Cipriani 42nd St. Please mark this important date on your calendar.
