COGNITION, PERCEPTION AND MOVEMENT

Traditionally research and therapy has been divided into different do- mains reflecting different functions of the brain such as motor abilities, perception and cognition. New research however shows that this is an artificial distinction which does not reflect the actual highly integrated processing in the neural networks of the brain. In normal every-day living cognition, motor abilities and perception cannot be distinguished and a therapeutic approach which take all domains into account is necessary.

Topics that will be covered:

  • Cognitive development, agency and embodiment
  • Learning and memory in children with disabilities
  • Role of movement in cognitive development
  • Psychological barriers and challenges for disabled children
  • Communication and interaction
