THE GREAT ROOM IV
Mr Paul Matthews, Chief Executive, Institute of IT Professionals NZ (IITP)
Few people would deny that software projects fail more than we would like.  In fact, depending on how you measure it we still often see more failed or challenged software projects than successful ones.  So why do software projects fail and what can we do to change the pattern?

In this presentation, IITP CEO Paul Matthews outlines recent international and NZ research that identifies the core reasons software projects fail, and compares that to the characteristics of price-based procurement versus alternatives such as Qualification-Based Selection (QBS) to ask the question: does current procurement methodologies set up software transformation projects to fail?  And is there a better way?

This project fits in the policy of the Flemish government to help their local government by offering shared services.
