Add-On Pre-Conference Workshop: Guide to Travel Management
This session is a conference add-on and space is being limited to foster learning.  The fee to participate in this workshop is $89 for conference delegates who are members and $119 for non-members.  To attend select the "workshop" option when registering for the conference.

Format: Interactive | Small Group Workshop
Designed for: Business travel professionals new to the industry, and procurement managers new to the category.

This 2-hour workshop will introduce the discipline of travel management in the Canadian marketplace.  Participants will start with the basics by learning  what makes travel different from other procurement commodities, the structure of the industry and the types of suppliers, before moving on to negotiating strategies, ratios and benchmarks.  The session will also address how Canada is similar and different from other markets, including the USA, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America and touch upon new developments that could change the way travel is managed.

A gaze Into the Crystal Ball:
Global Health & Security Predictions

As the definition of workplace evolves and companies press deeper into remote territory, themes and issues that are important to travel managers are emerging.  Two leading international experts will unveil five major predictions in global health and security.  Themes addressed:  environmental extremes; continuing unrest; emerging diseases (including Ebola); emerging markets; and employee wellness and access to medical care.

Daniel A. Slaim, M.D., Regional Medical Director - Americas, International SOS, oversees the medical assistance expansion of cases throughout the Americas Region, and has worked extensively with organizations to better prepare their traveling population.

Mr. Pablo Weisz, Regional Security Manager - Americas, International SOS and Control Risks, is an expert in travel security risk management and evacuations.  He played a
critical role in the management of evacuations associated with Haiti, Japan, the Arab Spring in Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya.

This session will examine common challenges experienced by corporate travelers, and how travel managers can address and engage on their behalf with best practices and innovative solutions.  A series of video case studies will outline the “evidence” of frequent issues such as leveraging card data to increase savings and rebates and creating policies that
address and support traveller’s needs. Solutions will be recommended to “close” each case.  A serious yet fun CSI-approach to uncovering and addressing thorny travel and expense management dilemmas.
