Margie Amato

Margie Amato, MBA, RHIA, ACS-CA, has worked in health care administration for over 25 years. In her role as Director of MedAxiom’s Business Office Coding Network (BOCN) Margie helps member practices improve the profitability and effectiveness of the complete billing process. This is accomplished through extensive educational coding programs, networking and by utilizing a management system of key indicators to measure and benchmark each step of the billing process.

Her health care experience varies from coding and quality/utilization management to oncology service-line management. The most recent years have been devoted to cardiology practice management. Before coming to MedAxiom, Margie served as Practice Administrator for Utah Heart Clinic for 10 years and then served as the Director of Physician Services for a Salt Lake City hospital where she started and managed a cardiology practice, a neurosurgery practice, and a hospitalist program.

Margie holds a Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management from the College of Saint Mary and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. Margie maintains credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator and an Advanced Coding Specialist in Cardiology.

Margie currently serves on the Board of Medical Specialty Coding where she writes and updates test questions for the ACS-CA and SCP-CA Cardiology coding exams. She recently served on the Utah Health Information Management Association Board as the Director of Alternate Care. Margie also served in the Presidency of the Utah MGMA Board of Directors for 7 years.


 
Linda Gates-Striby CCS-P, ACS-CA
Compliance Manager
The Care Group

Linda is the Compliance Manager at The Care Group, a division of StVincent Medical Group in Indianapolis. She has worked in the medical field for over 30 years, and has specialized in cardiology coding and billing for the past 15 years. Her clinical experience includes work in the heart stations and coronary intensive care units as well as working as an EMT for a level one trauma center.

Linda is the cardiology chair on the Board of Advanced Medical Coding and lead the development of the Advanced Cardiology and Specialty Cardiology Certification examinations, and Specialty Coding Examination for cardiology. She serves as the technical editor for the Cardiology Coder’s Pink Sheet and Cardiology Coding News, as the technical co-editor of the Interventional Radiology Procedures Pink Sheet.

Linda serves as a non-physician member of the HRS coding and the American College of Cardiology’s coding subcommittees., and is a sought after speaker by many organizations such as Decision Health, HCPro, Wolter’s Kluwer, MGMA etc. as well as numerous ACC Chapter offices. Linda has worked with a number of law firms and cardiology practices involved in corporate integrity agreements with the OIG and has served in the capacity as an independent reviewer. Linda has served as an IRO auditor for OIG Corporate Integrity Agreements, and as an expert witness on behalf of cardiology practices

Linda owns her own consulting company and provides a variety of consulting, auditing and education services to cardiology practices through out the United States, as well as MedAxiom, Cardiology Leadership Alliance, and COCA networks.



 
Nicole Knight
Director, Revenue Cycle Solutions
MedAxiom

Nicole Knight, LPN, CPC, CCS-P, has worked in health care administration for over 18 years. Her health care experience varies from Cardiology and Neurology practice operations, clinical management, business office management, and consulting for coding and compliance. The most recent years have been devoted to practice operations and Electronic Health Record project management and implementation. 

Before coming to MedAxiom, Nicole served as Practice Administrator for Baptist Neurology and Northeast Florida Cardiology. She has continued to work as a coding and compliance consultant for various multi-specialty practices including Neurology, Hematology/Oncology, Radiology, Orthopedic, ENT, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine. She has provided procedure and Evaluation and Management audits, reporting, physician and staff compliance education sessions nationally. 

Nicole maintains her LPN licensure in Louisiana and Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders and the American Health Information Management Association. She received her Advanced Coding Certification with the Board of Medical Specialty Coding. Nicole is a certified AHIMA ICD-10-CM Trainer and completed a Lean Healthcare training course at Johns Hopkins University. She also serves on the Physician Practice Council for AHIMA.
