DEİK, the Turkish private sector’s
gateway to foreign countries, was founded in 1986 to follow the economic,
commercial, industrial and financial relations of the Turkish private sector
with foreign countries and international organisations and to help to initiate
and improve these relationships. DEİK started its operations in 1987. DEİK
operates through bilateral Business Councils and as of January 2014, includes
115 Business Councils within 8 regional coordinatorships and 42 Founding
Organisations. Bilateral Business Councils are founded through cooperation
agreements signed with foreign counterpart institutions. The Turkish side of
the Business Councils consists of member companies that have previously started
developing or plan to develop business relations with the relevant country. One
company may become a member of more than one Business Council if it designates
more than one representative. |
