COPA Safety and Education Foundation / COPA Training Foundation, LLC
The COPA Safety and Education Foundation is a non-profit foundation whose main objective is to provide continuing education and to increase safety for general aviation pilots. The foundation and its activities are aimed at all general aviation pilots and aircraft, especially pilots flying so-called "Technically Advanced Aircraft" (TAA) - i.e. aircraft equipped with at least a combination of GPS navigators and autopilots.
Daedalus Aviation is a Cirrus Platinum Training Center, situated directly at the Birmigham airport, EGBB. Daedalus Aviation operate a brand-new ALSIM Cirrus flight simulator, one of very few in Europe. It allows for normal VFR and IFR scenario based training, malfunctions training, abnormal and emergency situation training, and it features a fully functional CAPS system.
COPA University and Daedalus Aviation have teamed up to offer a remarkable training event on the weekend May 30 - June 1, 2025.
COPA University brings their subject matter experts to deliver seminars on flight operations, avionics, aircraft technology and abnormal and emergency operations.
Daedalus Aviation brings in their fantastic simulator and their experienced sim flight instructors.
Every attendee will get several ground seminar sessions, or ground and flight training, or grund and simulator training, as selected during registration - from normal flight up to a CAPS pull !
And in addition, we'll have great fun together visiting Birminham with it's abundance of restaurants.
Come and join us - to become a better pilot !
COPA University currently addresses important safety-related topics in 6 Colleges:
Aviation Safety - Investigating accidents and incidents of TAA aircraft to draw conclusions on better handling of advanced TAA systems.
Advanced Avionics - Dealing with advanced cockpits and navigators - from GNS430 to IFD440, GTN650, Aspen Evolution, Sandel EHSI to integrated cockpits with Garmin 1000, Avidyne Entegra, Cirrus Perspective or Avidyne R9.Flight Operations - Everything about weather, including satellite weather in the cockpit, normal, abnormal and emergency procedures, IFR procedures, pre-flight and in-flight aeronautical decision making (ADM), and the legal aspects of our flying.Aircraft Technology - Everything from engines, propellers, airframes, systems, proper leaning, typical failure modes in our aircraft, to inspections and borescope interpretation.Flight Simulation - in several modern procedure trainers, as well as in the Cirrus SR series full-motion simulator in Poznan, pilots train with flight instructors in critical and demanding scenarios, including those that we do not want to or are not allowed to encounter in real flight.Practical Flight - this is where it all comes together, where we apply in the aircraft what was learned and practiced on the ground.
COPA Pilot Proficiency Program (CPPP)
The COPA Safety and Education Foundation organizes recurrent training with General Aviation ground courses and Aircraft-specific flight instruction during a weekend of socializing with like-minded owners and their partners. Many pilots choose to make CPPP a key part of their annual or biannual training.
Some insurance underwriters give benefits for attending a CPPP of up to 15%.
Typical CPPP Weekend Event
The COPA Pilot Proficiency Program weekend offers participants a selection of ground courses, optional flight instruction segments with some of the most experienced COPA instructors, a Partner-in-Command program for non-pilot right seat companions, an extensively expanded simulator laboratory. A Lunch package on Saturday is included in the registration fee. The Friday and Saturday night dinners are not included in the registration fee. Hotel accommodations are pre-arrangend, but not included in the course fees. Event times are Friday beginning at around 13:00h (1:00pm) through Sunday concluding at 14:00 (2:00pm), all local times.

Flight Training - in your Aircraft
Flying in your aircraft (or in a charter) remains one of the best training opportunities. All comes together here - what you have learened in the seminars, what you have experienced in the simulator. Now bring it to action - with one of our COPA instructors which belong to the most experienced available. Fly over the beautiful English midlands. Plan your flight, fly your plan, and hone your skills.

Partner in Command Course
This CPPP again offers a Partner-in-Command course for right-seat flyers. The P-I-C course has received rave reviews from partners who leave better prepared to survive an emergency and help their flying partner. Many CPPP participants wish they had invited their partners because of the positive impact on their partners. Partners will also receive a sim session for hands-on practice of what they learned in the PIC course.
