Dr. Ryan Arias, DO Faculty - Beebe Family Medicine Beebe Healthcare Ryan Arias, DO, is joining the faculty of the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education. He will be a core faculty member of the Family Medicine Residency program and will also see patients at Long Neck Primary Care. Dr. Arias will care for patients of all ages, including newborns starting in late August. He will also see inpatients at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus in the newborn nursery as well as adults. “I’m thrilled to welcome Dr. Arias to our core faculty of Beebe’s Family Medicine Residency Program,” said Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP, Program Director of Family Medicine Residency at Beebe Healthcare. “In his role, he will contribute to the program’s development and curriculum. His expertise and qualifications will help train and instruct Beebe’s residents, as well as seeing patients in Sussex County.”
Dr. Arias received his medical degree from the Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine in North Carolina and completed his training at Harnett Health’s Family Medicine Residency in North Carolina, where he became chief resident of the program.
He has served as a Teaching Assistant of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at his alma mater. His other special areas of interest includes treatment of the “athlete," Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and simulation medicine, which aids the training of clinical teams.
“I chose academic medicine because I have always loved to teach,” Dr. Arias said. “It has been a passion of mine since my undergraduate years, and during the course of my residency, I knew teaching medicine was something that I needed to be a part of my career moving forward. I can’t wait to educate more physicians that could call Sussex County their home.”
After years of preparation, the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education’s Family Residency Program will welcome four family medicine residents in July 2023. Residents are physicians who have graduated from medical school and are completing their training in a specific field. The residents will see patients under the guidance of faculty, which will open up additional access to primary care appointments in Sussex County.

Dr. Jeffrey Hawtof, MD, FAAFP Family Physician Beebe Medical Group Jeffrey Hawtof, MD, is board certified in family medicine. He completed his medical school training at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and completed his residency in family medicine at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va. He is employed by Beebe Medical Group and is a member of Beebe Healthcare's Medical Staff. He has been working as a family physician in Sussex County for 25 years. Dr. Marilyn Heine, MD, FACEP AMA Board of Directors Drexel University College of Medicine Dr. Heine has held prominent leadership positions in state and specialty societies including: president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED), chair of PAMED’s Telehealth Task Force and chair of the PAMED Political Action Committee; president of the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians (PACEP); president of the Bucks County Medical Society where she continues on the Executive Committee; chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Federal Government Affairs Committee and ACEP’s lead representative to the Core Quality Measures Collaborative; legislative director and board member of the Pennsylvania Society of Hematology and Oncology; and as a member of the Association for Clinical Oncology Government Relations Committee. A past chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, she also served on the Federation of State Medical Boards Nominating Committee. Elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees in June 2022, Marilyn J. Heine, MD, is an emergency medicine and hematology oncology physician in southeast Pennsylvania and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. A tenacious advocate for physicians and patients and passionate leader within the AMA, Dr. Heine has served as chair of the AMA Council on Legislation from 2020 to 2021, as a board member of the AMA Political Action Committee, and as a member of the AMA Private Practice Physicians Congress Governing Council before it became a section. She has also served as a member of the inaugural steering committee for the AMA Ambassador program, as a member of the Mobility Caucus Executive Committee, and as a delegate in the AMA House of Delegates. Dr. Heine represents the AMA on the board of the CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange and the Da Vinci Project Clinical Advisory Council. A national speaker on health policy, physician advocacy, scope of practice, and emergencies in hematology and oncology, Dr. Heine has testified before Congress on “Medicare Physician Payment: How to Build a Payment System that Provides Quality, Efficient Care for Medicare Beneficiaries,” and is widely recognized as a trusted resource by policymakers on “both sides of the aisle.” She has presented “What Every Clinician Needs to Know About Health Care AI Use,” and spoken as part of the AMA program, “What I Wish I Knew When I Was in Med School.” In addition to her roles as a media spokesperson and as an associate member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, Dr. Heine received gubernatorial appointments to the Pennsylvania eHealth Collaborative and the Health Care Reform Implementation Committee. Acclaimed for her accomplishments in health policy and advocacy, Dr. Heine has received many accolades including the PACEP David Blunk Award for Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Medicine, the inaugural AMPAC Award for Political Participation, the AMA Women Physicians Section Inspiration Award, and the ACEP Colin C. Rorrie, Jr., PhD Award for Excellence in Health Policy.

Dr. Tochi Iroku-Malize, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAFP AAFP Past President American Academy of Family Physicians Dr. Iroku-Malize is a past president of the AAFP, having just completed her term as board chair. She currently serves as founding chair and professor of family medicine for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead, New York, and senior vice president and chair of the family medicine service line for Northwell Health. She is a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and is active in the Association of Departments of Family Medicine. A member of the AAFP since 1999, Dr. Iroku-Malize served as a New York State alternate delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates from 2016 to 2017, and New York State delegate to the National Conference of Special Constituencies from 2006 to 2009. She served on the Commission on Membership and Member Services and the Commission on Continuing Professional Development, for which she chaired the Subcommittee on Continuing Credit and Accreditation. She has also chaired the Maternal Morbidity & Mortality task force led by the AAFP. At the state level, Dr. Iroku-Malize has served the New York State Academy of Family Physicians in various leadership roles including vice president, president-elect, president and board chair. She has also been involved in various national service and leadership roles, including serving on the NYSAFP Board of Directors.
Dr. Iroku-Malize is a member and delegate to the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) and served on the Committees on Health Informatics and Medical Education. She received the 2018 Global Health Service Award from the Dr. Almanzar Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on providing medical care to low-income individuals in the Dominican Republic and Latin America.
Dr. Iroku-Malize earned her combined bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine and Dentistry in Enugu. She completed an internship at Port of Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago and completed residency training in family medicine at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York. She earned her Master of Public Health in health policy and management from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in New York City. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, with additional certifications in hospice and palliative medicine. She has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education. | |
Dr. Kayur Patel, MD, FACP, FAAPL, FACHE, FACEP Internist Proactive MD Dr. Patel is a Practicing Emergency Department Physician. He is trained in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Patel is also a highly experienced physician executive. He has over twenty years of practical experience in medical management. This includes serving as the Former Chief Medical Officer of an HCA facility, the former Medical Director for Emergency Medicine and Occupational Health, the former Director to Health Care Excel, the Quality Improvement Organization for Indiana. A frequent speaker on the subject of quality in healthcare, Dr. Patel has a special clinical interest in Pulmonary Embolism and Thrombolytics in an Acute Stroke. Dr. Patel currently serves as a consultant to KEPRO, the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for more than 30 states. His primary responsibility is to review medical records to see whether they meet the Standard of Care.

Dr. Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP DAFP President-elect, 2025 Conference Chair, and Founding Director of the Beebe Family Medicine Residency Program Beebe Healthcare Dr. Joyce Robert is Beebe's Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency. She is also a board certified family medicine physician. Dr. Robert received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her training at Mount Sinai Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine. She previously served as a core faculty and advisor for the Harlem Residency in Family Medicine, as well as Performance Improvement Chair and Transitional Year Residency Program Director all with Mount Sinai Health System. She was also Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and was an integral member of the admissions committee. She has a deep commitment to the advancement of family medicine education and continuous quality improvement of patient-centered care.
Dr. Robert is the founding director of Beebe's Family Medicine Residency. This program trains future physicians in the field of family medicine and will also allow medical students to work within the Beebe system. The goal of the program is to train the next generation of family medicine physicians, who will hopefully choose to practice medicine here in Southern Delaware.
Dr. Robert will also be seeing primary care patients at Beebe Family Practice - Long Neck. She is employed by Beebe Medical Group and is a member of Beebe Healthcare's Medical Staff. | |

Dr. Joshua Steinberg, MD Family Physician United Health Services Hospitals-Binghamton Dr. Joshua D. Steinberg is a family medicine doctor in Johnson City, New York, and is affiliated with United Health Services Hospitals-Binghamton.
