Dr. Alfred Atanda, Jr. MD

Alfred Atanda Jr. is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, where he serves as the Chief of the Center for Sports Medicine, the Chief of Clinician Experience, and is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

His clinical interests include sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, general pediatric orthopedics, and injury prevention in youth athletes. With his expertise in these areas he is frequently invited to teach and lecture locally, regionally, and nationally.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he completed residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Atanda also completed fellowships in pediatric orthopedic surgery, at the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, and in sports medicine surgery, at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University.

His future goals and aspirations are to re-imagine how healthcare is delivered by leveraging digital health and telemedicine technology to appropriately triage, navigate, evaluate, and treat orthopedic patients. He is the chief editor on the world’s first textbook solely dedicated to telemedicine in orthopedic surgery. More recently, he has been working to optimize the physician experience, bringing awareness to the many ramifications of professional burnout, and developing a physical well-being strategy for the organization.

 

 
Dr. Bradley Bley DO, FAAP, RMSK, CSCS

After earning his Undergraduate degree from Boston University, Dr. Bley worked as an American College of Sports Medicine certified Health and Fitness Instructor. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Following his dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Christiana Care/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, Dr. Bley completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Bley works with many local area high schools. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association and Chair of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.

He is very active as a teacher and currently serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and as Faculty for the Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at Christiana Care Health System. Dr. Bley is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehab at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware.

 

 
Dr. Carly Chamberlain DO

Carly Hannah Chamberlain, DO is a motivated and compassionate board-certified family medicine physician and primary care sports medicine doctor who has been a member of the ChristianaCare team since 2019. In her current role as a family physician, she treats patients across the age spectrum for a variety of preventative care, minor illness and injury, and wellness needs. Dr. Chamberlain earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. She completed her residency in family medicine at the ChristianaCare Health System in Newark, DE, where she served as chief resident and was recognized with the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors Awards for Advocacy and Scholarship. Next, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine, also at ChristianaCare Health System. Her prior clinical positions as an attending include working in an urgent care clinic in Newark, and she has provided sports medicine coverage for numerous Division I and II teams at the University of Delaware and Goldy Beacom College, among other institutions. Currently residing in Delaware, Dr. Chamberlain is excited to continue her career as a member of ChristianaCare's family medicine team. Her research has been published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine's Sports Med Reference, and elsewhere.

 
Dr. Stephen Kushner DO
Conference Chair, Dr. Kushner joined the Christiana Care Department of Family and Community Medicine in 1992 where he currently practices medicine and serves as Preceptor to the Department. He is board certified and licensed to practice medicine in Delaware. He has been selected as one of the “Top Docs in Delaware” for Family Medicine, numerous times, most recently in October 2019. He has also been named "Preceptor of the Year" several times as an educator for the Department of Family and Community Medicine Residency Program. In addition, he serves as the Team Physician for the Archmere Academy football program and has a special interest in Sports Medicine.
 
Dr. Jayson Loeffert DO

Dr. Loeffert is a family physician at Penn State Health Medicine Group in Hershey, PA specializing in Sports Medicine.

Jayson Loeffert, DO, was born in Pittsburgh and bleeds black and gold. He studied biology at Allegheny College, in Meadville Pennsylvania, before attending medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency in Reading Pennsylvania, with the Reading Health System. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Following graduation, Dr Loeffert joined the faculty with a dual appointment in both family medicine and sports medicine. He enjoys the mix of outpatient sports and family medicine, as well as working closely with residents and medical students. In addition, he provides medical care for the Harrisburg Senators (minor league baseball), Penn State Harrisburg, and Middletown High School. He has special interest in the care of wilderness and outdoor athletes, swimmers, exercise prescription, and concussion.
