Luis Jenkins
Senior Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability and Risk
Vistra

Luis Jenkins, CSDP, USMC (Ret) is the Senior Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability and Risk for the Vistra Corp. family of companies including Corporate Services, Power Generation and Electric Retail.  This role has responsibility for ensuring Vistra suppliers have Environmental, Social and Governance policies in alignment with Vistra’s objectives.  It also assists in the effort for the development, promotion, and oversight of a national strategy and architecture to increase the inclusion and growth of both Diverse and Small Business Enterprises across the supply chain from Suppliers to Channel Partners.

Luis Jenkins joined Vistra Corp through the SkillBridge Program, which is a Department of Defense internship that allowed him to transition to the corporate world after serving 22 years of active duty as a United States Marine.  During his active-duty time, he served overseas for over six years of his career, including multiple tours to Iraq and Afghanistan supporting the war effort.  He also served as a Drill Instructor for four years, molding over a thousand young men into Marines and ensuring that the Marine Corps’ legacy was in good hands.

As he transitioned from the military, he developed a business case to create a Supply Chain Sustainability Initiative within Vistra to assess the value chain on Environmental, Social, and Governance metrics to ensure they were aligned to the company goals and values.  This resulted in the Senior Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability role being created, which he was able to assume as his military obligation ended.  This initiative has quickly gained steam and is establishing Vistra as a leader in the industry with its sustainability efforts.

He currently serves on numerous committees in the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance to help drive the sustainability efforts within Vistra’s supply chain and 28 other utility members.  As a Diversity Champion, he serves on the Certification Committees for the DFW Minority Supplier Development Council, the Women’s Business Council Southwest, the National Veteran Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), and the Disability:IN.  He serves on the Engagement Committee for NaVOBA, the Women’s Business Development Council’s Planning Committee, and the National Minority Development Council’s Utility Industry Group Council.

He received his BA in Leadership and Workforce Development from the U.S. Army General War College and is working on his MBA from Webster University.  He has also earned and maintained the Certified Supplier Diversity Professional recognition.   His military awards and recognitions include meritorious promotions, multiple Marine and Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter Honors, a Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy Achievement Medals with a combat “V” distinguishing device for valor in combat.  He is God-driven and enjoys sports, weightlifting, and spending time with his family.  He has four children that he is beyond proud of.
