VIRTUAL Insight Series: Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) enables an evaluation of the internal audit activity's conformance with the Definition of Internal Auditing, the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, and an evaluation of whether internal auditors apply the Code of Ethics. The program also assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal audit activity and identifies opportunities for improvement. This presentation will provide an overview of the IIA QAIP - including quality assessments, internal assessments, external assessments, and assessment scales; discuss the development and implementation of a QAIP; and, what to anticipate when an external assessment is performed on an internal audit function.  

Learning Objectives:

Overview of the IIA QAIP

• Participants will be able to describe the overall QAIP process, including quality assessments, internal assessments, external assessments, and assessment scales.

Developing and Implementing a QAIP

• Participants will have the basics to be able to develop and implement an internal QAIP and understand the basics of an external QAIP.

What to Expect During an External QAIP

• Participants will know what to anticipate when an external assessment is performed.
