INTERIM/TRANSITIONAL MINISTRY WEEK 1 DESCRIPTION

This training week satisfies the Week 1 Interim/Transitional Ministry training credential required by most Church councils within the PC(USA). (Other denominations may recognize the Interim/Transitional Ministry training as well, so please feel free to inquire). This event is open to all, no matter denomination affiliation.

The training begins on Monday, November 14, at 1:00 p.m. ET, and ends on Friday, November 18, by 11:30 a.m. ET. Monday evening is the only required evening session, with an optional learning opportunity on Wednesday evening.

The course will cover the following topics: 

  • Effective leadership approaches in transition 
  • Tools and tasks to help prepare congregations for a new pastor
  • Navigating systems, conflict, and power dynamics
  • Theological and spiritual elements of times of transition, including opportunities and limits of worship and preaching
  • Building and leading a culture of exploration, discernment, and discovery

Registration for this event is limited to 25 people. Once we have reached maximum capacity, a waiting list will be started.

Early Registration (ends September 30, 2022):  $455
Standard Registration (begins October 1, 2022):  $480
 

*HOUSING:

Limited housing on campus is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants may select housing, for an additional cost, during registration. On-campus housing includes single and double occupancy rooms, with each room having a private bath. The current cost per night for one person is $50. The cost per night for two people in a room (shared room) is $37.50 per night, per person. If you are interested in on-campus lodging, during the registration process there will be a "Hotel Reservation" page/tab. For more details on housing, please click the "More Info" link next to "On-Campus Loding" during your registration process.

If you try to register for housing and would like a single or double occupancy room but it indicates that your room choice is not available, please send an email to twortman@upsem.edu to verify occupancy status.
