Who should attend Fire-Rescue Canada?
All fire service senior level leaders can attend Fire-Rescue Canada.

What are the official dates of the meeting?
Fire-Rescue Canada kicks off with its Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Service the evening of Sunday, September 14, 2014 and concludes with it Awards Gala the evening of Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

Where is the meeting located?
All Fire-Rescue Canada educational sessions, events and registration will be held at the Westin Ottawa Hotel. The Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Service will be held at the Ottawa Convention Centre and Fun Night will be held at the Brookstreet Hotel.

What is the recommended arrival airport?

The Westin Ottawa is located 15.9km or 9.9 miles from Ottawa MacDonald Cartier International Airport (YOW), easily accessible via taxi, and private or public transportation.

  • Taxis: Taxis are stationed outside the airport at all times. For transportation to the airport, our hotel is happy to arrange a taxi to pick you up.

  • Public Transportation: OC Transport serves the greater Ottawa area and offers affordable transportation.
    • Fee: CAD $3
Are there travel discounts available?
Yes, WestJet is providing a discount for traveling by air.

Will I be able to access the program on my mobile device?

Yes, the Fire-Rescue Canada mobile app will be available in July with access to the complete final program and so much more!

What is the recommended attire?
Attire for educational/business sessions is business casual.  Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Service is uniform.  Fun Night is casual.  Awards Gala is uniform, mess kits, business.

How do I register?
Attendees are encouraged to register online.

What is the registration fee?
Registration fees are based on CAFC membership.  Your membership must be current to receive the membership rate.  When you book your hotel within the conference room block, you save $100 on your registration!

What is included in my registration fee?
All educational sessions (Monday to Wednesday); the Opening Ceremonies & Memorial Service and the Welcome Reception on Sunday; Fun  Night on Monday; the Vendors Gallery Reception on Tuesday; the Awards Gala on Wednesday; Breakfasts, lunches and refreshment breaks (Monday to Wednesday); and access to after hours Sponsored Hospitality rooms.  Note Receptions and Fun Night include substantial food and beverages.

Can I register a companion?
Yes!  There is a 3 day Companion Program (Monday to Wednesday).  This program whisks companions away each day to tour the sites of our Nations Capital and all it has to offer before arriving back in time to get ready for the evening events. 

Do I have to register for individual sessions/are sessions ticketed?
For most sessions, you do not need to pre-register.  However, seats in sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Tickets for evening events such as Fun Night and the Awards Gala will be provided in your registration package.

When/where can I register onsite?
You will be able to register (including name badge/material pick-up for those registered in advance, as well as anyone who needs register on-site) at the Westin Hotel. 

Badges are required for access to all Fire-Rescue Canada activities.

Sunday, September 14   12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Monday, September 15    7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Tuesday, September 16  7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Wednesday, September 17  7:00 am to 2:00 pm

How do I make a hotel reservation?
Hotel reservations are made during the online registration process.
The deadline to book a hotel reservation is August 13, 2014 . Attendees that have not booked a hotel room in the official Fire-Rescue Canada housing block by August 13, 2014 will be charged an additional $100 registration fee on August 14, 2014. If attendees book housing in the official Fire-Rescue Canada housing block and later cancel their reservation, the additional $100  registration fee will be automatically charged. A credit card is required to guarantee all hotel reservations. Hotel cancellation policies are detailed on the housing site when booking your hotel reservation.

Who can I contact with housing issues?
To book your hotel reservation, please do so when registering online. Otherwise contact CAFC's Director of Events & Operations at vroper@cafc.ca to book your room reservation.
Once confirmation of your room has been received, any housing issues with the hotel can be made directly with the hotel.
