Is there any other commitment outside of manning the hole when players go through? |
Yes, but only for “Closest to the Pin Contest Holes” Companies who sponsor the closest to the pin holes are asked to sell raffle tickets for split the pot and subsidize cost of the event. Raffle tickets will be sold on Holes 4 and 14 along with the Closest to the Pin Contests. The cost for raffle tickets is $5 per ticket, 3 tickets for $10 or 7 tickets for $20. If the golfer buys the raffle tickets prior to taking the shot and the ball stays on the putting green, we double the number of raffle tickets purchased. Raffle ticket winners will "Split the Pot" (cash) or win other great prizes to be awarded after dinner.
Sponsors of these events will need to bring a prize (min. $100) to the winners of this event for both the male and female winners. Please communicate to Ed Gozdecki whether you intend to bring a prize at edwgozdecki@sbcglobal.net (847) 732-7474. How many participants are registered to golf? Can I get a list of names/companies being represented? |
Participation varies year to year. From 2014 to 2021, inclusive, we sold out the event with 144 golfers and another 20 to 30 volunteers and sponsors. The maximum number of golfers on our shot gun scramble golf event at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club is 144 (8/hole x 18 holes). Upon request and if participants have provided, we will send sponsors the participants' names, company, and email address. We encourage sponsors to request contact information during the event whether it is on or off the course. NOTE: Many of the golfer’s names are not known until the week prior to the event as many people purchase foursomes with names to be added later. NOTE: On the day of the event, golf hole sponsors will be provided a list of golfers in foursome order.

9. |
If I sponsor the driving range, lunch, beverage carts & tubs, photographer or a golf hole, then do I need to donate a prize? |
No, you are not required to donate a prize for these sponsorships. However, if you do bring a prize(s), then we will raffle the prize off and ask that you present the prize to the winner at the reception/awards banquet following golf. Golfers, sponsors, and volunteers love prizes! If you choose to bring a prize for our raffle, please communicate type of prize to Richard Kokoszka so we can plan accordingly at the reception raffle. 10. |
What do people typically donate as a raffle prize? |
If you would like to donate a raffle prize, then we would be happy to accept it. There is no minimum value requirement. In the past, we have had prizes donated such as a pair of Cubs or White Sox tickets, airline tickets, gift cards, golf balls, umbrellas, golf towels, golf hat, golf club(s), etc. |
11. |
Do sponsors hand out the prizes to the winners and at what point during the event does this take place? |
We prefer the sponsors to hand out their own prize to a raffle ticket winner. If the reception starts at 2:30 PM, then at approximately 3:15 PM, we start giving out the golf contest prizes and then at or around 4:00 PM, the raffle should start and end no later than 4:30 PM |
12. |
How is the raffle run? |
Generally, the sponsors of holes 4 & 14 will have people at the holes selling the raffle tickets. If we do not have sponsors for the holes, we will have volunteers at these holes working. At the reception, around 4:00 PM, we pull the ticket numbers from a bowl and raffle off all prizes until we have no more prizes. Subsequently, the last five raffle tickets pulled are for cash prizes totaling ½ the money collected from the sale of the raffle tickets (split the pot). The remaining cash is used to subsidize the cost of our golf event which is a breakeven event. |
Once again thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on August 22, 2022.
