9:10 am - 10:00 amESG Risk and Internal Audit
Valerie Nielsen, Managing Director, Longview Leader Corporation

ESG has gained prominence as public, private, non-profits and government agencies look to redefine themselves in the marketplace.  Clients, employees, investors and communities now expect more from their organizations beyond revenues and employment.  Organizations are expected to make the case for their values and how they compliment and support the communities they serve.

Internal Auditors have a key role in the Governance component of ESG in providing assurance on their organization’s internal control environment not just on financial health and operational effectiveness.  Internal Audit needs to widen their scope by providing insights on an organization’s stewardship of nature; relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities; executive pay, etc.

The learning objectives for this session are:

  1. Assessing the impacts of ESG on the risk profile of your organization
  2. How investors view ESG
  3. ESG Standards and Frameworks
  4. How to include ESG in an audit
  5. ESG and the Audit Committee

Whether implicit or conscious, bias is the number one threat to humanity and any company’s success. You know the problem. Permission::Granted is your answer.

Although diversity can often be an uncomfortable topic, Risha’s approach helps attendees to easily understand the concept, without feeling bored or judged.
