Event Description
Please join ASU School of Social Work for this two part Motivational Interviewing Basics webinar course. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented method of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is intended to strengthen personal motivation for & commitment to a change goal by eliciting and exploring an individuals own arguments for change. This evidenced-based practice is used in numerous settings including: addictions & mental health care, primary care, emergency rooms, public health care, criminal justice, street outreach & shelters, and child welfare. You must attend both classes to receive CE credits.

Motivational Interviewing Basics Part 1 will be held on July 21st from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Motivational Interviewing Basics Part 2 will be held on July 21st from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Please note that this training occurs online, via the ZOOM Platform. The link will be provided the morning of the training via email. Please log in at least 15-20 minutes in advance of the event start time so you can get situated, and troubleshoot if needed.

Attendees must attend both webinars and will earn 3 hours of CEs. We will be providing the following continuing education:

NAADAC - Addictions Counseling://www.naadac.org/ which is typically accepted by most licensing and certification bodies.

NASW: Approved by National Association of Social Works, Arizona Chapter for licensed Social Workers.

APA: The Training Institute-Southwest Behavioral Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.

NBCC: The Training Institute-Southwest Behavioral Health has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6368.
